Qld??

Talk to god.

Just did my fathers drainage at his place in noosa last december (some holiday), same as you he had standing water and a lot of it. The solution was 5 pits stepped down to the road and a butt load of open gutter drains near the house with pipe work to tie all the shit together. Tools required 1 shovel, i pick, 1 level and some string. Took 3 days of off and on labour, probably 14-16hrs work by myself.

yeh... im aethist so god probably would not want to hear from me lol

the problem with my place is that im below the street (JUST) so all of my stormwater and sewerage go back down the block (1,200m2) and from what ive gathered most of my underground pipes are under concrete. half of the problem is that the concrete is not leveled (imo) correctly to move the water away from the house

By the looks of it you might be able to get the water out of there without cutting concrete. a few drain entrances next to the concrete with a pipe to the lower ground or something.

images 1 and 2... ive already done that. it does drain away eventually

Gunna have to cut the slab and put couple of rain water outlets (generally bout 200mm round or square with a lil gal grate on top) in or get some arco drains (black poly grates bout 100mm wide come in 1m lengths) put in and hook them up into your existing stormwater lines. Do your gutters overflow in the rain? If so might be worth chucking an electric eel up the pipes or at least have them inspected with a camera to see whats going on on the inside mate.

yeh i put in a drain here

post-44390-0-24880700-1329134269_thumb.jpg

which helped quite a bit but now its mainly around the front of the house (high ground) and the existing stormwater pipes have been concreted over (according to house plans)

i do have an electric eel like this

however the cutting head on it is not... good enough

The camera option maybe worth while mate if the water still isn't getting away if its tree roots blocking the line try another head like the spiral looking head which will screw itself into the roots and hopefully you can drag them out

had a similar problem and I am below street level. two runs of 5" pipe down both sides of the property with 4 square drains down each side of the house . it used to take 3-4 min of solid rain to flood the place. now its 30-40min of the same rain. I think I am 2-3 ft lower than the street.

took two of us about a week to do and about $500 in materials.

used a fair bit of sock and ag pipe as well. that and a decent layer of crushed rock about 6-10" under the top soil. the ditch is FULL of crushed rock as well. using that in itself drains that area quite well.

does that help?

that does help chris thanks

but the problem with my place is that both sides of the house have quite a few large palm trees (that i want to get rid of anyway), both sides have a fence and a fair bit of concrete...

its not the work thats the problem but the lay of the land.

gonna have to pull some trees down first.

that last image, are those flex pipes tied in to your downpipes?

so who here is a tree lopper? :P

yes.

the whole lot feeds into those pipes. the down pipes, ag pipe and yard drains.

the original 3" main pipe would not handle all of it. the 5" does.

all of that black flex pipe and sock is crossed about every 15ft or so into a + fashion. it all terminates at the one point in the last photo.

the result is a fairly quick draining yard.

    • I can't help with the clearance question, I've always taken my machine shop's advice on that. It is worth considering that a shop that does that every day for road cars will be looking for as good as they can get off the shelf, not perfect. If you want more careful race style "blueprinting" then you need a race shop to measure/machine the engine. I do have an opinion on line boring the block though....don't do it unless you have to. The crank centre moves higher but the oil pump stays in the same place when you line bore the block.
    • Hey that reminds me, are you changing your forum name to "The Hairdresser" too?
    • There's no figuring out with a Haltech, you literally load up the base map, plug in the vac/boost reference from your manifold to the ECU (or an external MAP) sensor, wire up an IAT and it will run pretty well out of the box. The ignition tables are quite well defined and safe enough for someone to give it a hit (although I don't recommend it if you've got anything besides the stock gear on the motor).
    • You're not wrong, but more than a few times I've heard of people running into issues where their injector characterization isn't quite right and that approach works for that specific configuration but once they switch over to a new set they discover a whole bunch of stuff wasn't set up correctly. It's slightly more annoying to reverse engineer the OEM MAF transfer function but you already have the sensor wired up to the factory harness so keeping it around for a few weeks more while you figure out the tune is easy enough. I've seen GM also use a combination of both MAF + MAP in their ECUs before, MAF is for steady state and a calculation of the cylinder VE to correct the base VE table, then in transients it uses that calculated VE + raw MAP to determine cylinder filling somehow.
    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
