first ever run [email protected] with a crappy 2.292 60ft

had heaps w/spin in 1 and 2 as shown by the 60fter! That was with 50psi in the tyres. I let them down to 25psi, and the spin turned into nasty axle tramp. It didnt improve my 60ft though, and i ran consistent ~2.3's all night.

only one bungled run, hit gate from 2 to 3 (twice!) and ran 13.888. (and r33vit got away!) :D

my last two runs were the best, with flat 13's (13.003) at a nice 114.19MPH with the worst 60fter of 2.302!! So i could have run a 12 but JUST JUST missed out! by 4 thousanths of a second!

i was expecting to run low 13's, and hoping for a 12. But with the car in full street trim (bar the subs which arent always carried anyway..) im happy, and there is no doubt in my mind that with a set of stockies on the back a 12 should be a gimme, as the 19's were just crap to launch on! R33vit was running semi slicks and pulling ~1.8 60fters, making me have to reel him in by the end of the track :D Going from my MPH, with a set of semi's i think 12.7 could be a possibility! (and without the cat) Its annoying that if i had taken the cat off -which is 10rwkw- my flat 13's would have been 12's!

All in all my car as it sits in the garage being good for flat 13's im pretty pleased, considering its on 19's and has very little suspension travel, its pretty much set up NOT to launch! R33vit congrats on your new PBs! Awesome results considering your running an FC with the BASE MAP!! although i did see you fiddling around with your HC a fair bit :)

Actually 114mph is good for a high 11 if you learn how to launch your car properly :D

I did a 12.4 @ 114.9mph with 2.01 60 footer with 17" circuit racing tyres (stiff sidewall semi slicks)... That launch still left a lot to be desired too.

It's all well and good to say "there is no doubt in my mind that with a set of stockies on the back a 12 should be a gimme", but that's all bullshit talk until you go out and do it... It's eleventy billion times easier to say that sentence than it is to actually go and do it :)

Good job and good luck!

thanks guys,

Merli, id like to see someone launch my car properly the way its currently setup! I could say have a go and see if you can do better, but i wont

I tried a few methods, loading the handbrake at different rpm, dropping it, slipping it, but all seemed to be around 2.3 60fts!

flaps, nice photo!

Oh, I'm not saying that it's your fault entirely... Hard rear suspension and 19" wheels don't lend themselves to launching in ANYONE'S books ;)

......but I'm sure that after one drag meeting, you still have a LOT to learn :) Just ask Buster or any other regular drag racers what his learning curve was if you don't believe me...

All I was saying was that with that terminal speed, and the right setup and launch, your car is capable of high 11s :)

Wow!!!  awesome effort!!!  congrats on the great time!!!  I can't wait to get my baby girl out there!!!  soon soon! ;)

Ohh!!!  very nice!!!!!!!  i remember seeing that car at the sau bbq cruise to homebush!!  very very nice! :)

If SLY33 is doing 13 flats with his GT2530, there's no excusing you from doing 9s with your GT2540 ;):)

hi sam, yeah was good fun! But if im gonna race you when your tuned, ill want to have some suitable rear wheels/tyres!

i may even be back to wsid next wednesday, any chance of renting those RE540's off you?

back in SA i have multiple rims/tyres that i could use, but here all i have is the 19's!

btw, were the tyres noticeably more worn after the meet?

Who snapped the photo? I was behind Alan (SLY33) at this point. Didn't see you there Sean.

Alan:

We had some great runs together, look forward to getting a tune and re running with ya man :D

Did I tell you how much I liked your ride

I would have said gday if i was there, ill be coming next week, not sure if im running yet or not.

Heres another pic for ya sam!

True about learning with each meet. I cut my 60 footers by .3 on my second meet. I never drive my car on the street as i do on the track, can't really launch at 6000rpm at each set of lights :)
