Apart from the w*nk factor in telling people you have a Vspec you also get:

- Rear carbon fiber diffuser that runs along the underbody (pretty cool)

- Intercooler temp + exhaust temp sensor (intake temp can be useful but not the end of the world if you dont have them)

- "TV" button on your MFD

- Active rear diff

- Grey seats (which imo are a negative as i prefer the black)

R34 GTR V-Spec = Standard R34 GTR but came with ATTESA E-TS Pro systemand an Active LSD at the rear.

Had harder suspension and lower ride height.

A plastic front air diffuser (covering theunderside of the engine) and also a rear carbon fiber air diffuser, designed tokeep air flowing smoothly under the car.

The Multifunction Display (MFD) had two extrafeatures to the display: Intake and Exhaust Temperatures.

Ceramic twin turbo's.

i believe my non vspec has the 'tv' button?...

also the black seats are series 2 (series 2 started in August 2000 maybe, somewhere around there), all series 1 gtrs have grey seats vspec or not. the black does look nicer and cleaner though.

as also stated above, plenty of info on the differences when searched etc..

and you can purchase after market diffusers front and back for non vspecs if thats a big worry.

My advice, find one in good condition and get it, as they are few and far between! I searched for about 4 months (through approx. 30 cars) found 2 in good condition....

I searched for a black/purple/blue vspecII and ended up with a yellow series one non-vspec... and couldnt be happier as the condition of it is fantastic.

I wouldnt get caught up in the labels... although if there available i would pay the extra.

Cheers,

Anthony

Rule #1 The primary objective (as already stated) is to get a really good, clean, well serviced, rust-free R34 GT-R; preferably with itemised history.

So few models are made compared to R32, R33 & R35.

And don't forget that they're currently spread over Japan, Indonesia, UK, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, NZ and HK.

Black = Standard GT-R (made to look like a VS2)

Blue = V-Spec II

White = V-Spec

All have the same engine when stock.

The Black one above had added...

* Tanabe progressive springs (Powerplayimports - now defunct)(car lowered by 1") > $300

* Side Skirts & Rear Pods (JSAI) > $700

* Rear C/F Diffuser (JDM Performance) > $1200

* Brackets for Rear Diffuser (Bodyform Aero) > $250

* Front F/G Diffuser (Carmate) > $500

* NACA Duct set into bonnet (Ken Lowe Racing) > $65

* Rear Wing C/F Blade (Bodyform Aero) > $300

* Radiator C/F Air Guide (Team Jetspeed) > $90

Yes it lacks intake and exhaust sensors for MFD display.

ATTESSA is different but not much

If you want to save some $ and wait for a V-Spec, just make sure you still follow Rule #1 & enjoy :thumbsup:

I was happy with all the types I've had!!!

Simon, it's an exact dry C/F copy.

Peter at Bodyform Aero couldn't tell the difference looking at it except to say that

a) his one costed nearly twice as much

b) the one I had was a bit thinner

c) the one I had is well made

For the R34, Peter at Bodyform used another R34 GT-R in his shop to get a friend of his to fabricate some brackets including the diff jacking point.

JDM Performance (aka Eugene) is here on SAU - but only on occasions. He said the price of the rear diffuser fluctuates.

thanks for the advice!

I think the main thing is to get a decent condition and service hisrtiry over Vspec etc etc

Since you're in Adelaide, ask/PM Iron Chef here on SAU (aka Kristian)(also in Adelaide) about a R34 GT-R M-Spec that's about to come out from Japan.

It won't be seen on any Japanese Auctions, so you'll need to get onto him!

Interesting. Will definitely look into it when I need it.

Cheers for the info.

Just work out exactly what you want and play the patience game.

I wanted a MPIII with full service history/books good condition didn't matter to me about Vspec or non Vspec

After playing the game for about 6 months one finally come up and I snapped it up straight away, so happy I waited for it.

My non Vspec has the TV button on the MFD so that must be normal I guess,

Good luck with your search
