hey everyone . On my phone so ill be short ?

How many ppl have had their balancer come lose/ oil pump break and damage the collar and end of crank.

Work shop has told me my collar and end of crank has been damaged. I have not seen it,, but they say it might be repairable.

I remember reading a few cases of this happening and was wondering how many of them were fatal to the crank?

Ps. Rb oil pumps ruin the fun :( lol

Oh ok that sounds easy enough. Mechanic didnt say anything about keyway, just that ballancer was moving a little and damaged the crank.

They did say they had to cut the ballancer off and the timing belt drive off, so hopefully they havent damaged it cutting them off.

Heres hoping its just the keyway haha

Common cause for this is the harmonic balancer bolt being incorrectly torqued.

+1, and it is reasonably common.

was your timing belt ever replaced?

BTW while I agree with Sean, have the crank checked for run out before putting it all back together....because another possibility is a bent crank which means your bearings will be rooted shortly.

Common cause for this is the harmonic balancer bolt being incorrectly torqued.

Totally agree - the torque specs on that bolt are quiet large meaning that you need to lock the crank - and no the clutch won't hold enough torque to do up the bolt.

You can pull the starter motor to lock the crank or do what I do and drill a small hole through the bell housing enough for a pry bar to lockup the flywheel.
