http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/ is that site without all the other shit attached. Its just AIS tracking based on IMO #'s. Used it for work for a while.

Ah, cool. Thank Alex. I'll certainly be keeping a keen eye on the site hahaha

Just to clarify, we generally don't let customers know about shipping dates until we have the shipping documents in our email inbox - occasionally cars can get bumped until the following boat due to lack of space, so it's better to wait rather than get people's hopes up ;)

Import agent disclaimer: car may arrive later than claimed. :nyaanyaa:

Makes sense and completely understandable; I honestly let my impatience get the better of me on this occasion.

Still getting brilliant service from the Iron Chef crew thumbsup.gif

  • 4 months later...

Good evening all, long time no post. Obviously, I've been kept rather busy with the new addition to the family but thought it was time enough to get back into the swing of it all. Due to small renos on the home, the money I was hoping to throw into the Stag, which we've had for nearly 4 months now, has all been re-appropriated and used elsewhere... yay. However, tax time is here and I’ve decided that whatever I can re-coup from Mr Tax Man will be directed towards getting the Fujitsubo in from Japan and finally getting Scotty's Dump pipe installed too.

I've got a couple Q's regarding the Stag at the moment but could certainly list off a few more but think I’ll go easy at this time =) Firstly, how the heck does one get access to the Reverse light globes? I've taken off all the trim on the boot door only to find a hard plastic cover over everything with no direct cable or holder to the globes within. Is it a case of dismantling it all further to get access? I was attempting access one afternoon whilst giving the car a good clean but ran out of sunlight before I could take it any further. Secondly, I'm noticing that the ATTESSA pump is priming at every start and almost every second set of stop lights and wanted to know whether this was normal. I haven’t had a chance to check the fluid levels (nor have I confirmed where the reserve is) but thought that I might ask while I'm here.

Another thing I might mention is that I've been looking at installing a reverse camera as the Wife isn’t too confident about parallel parking anymore and have found an almost DIRECT REPLACEMENT for the existing number plate light on the vehicle. Most people have been recommending either the X-Trail or Dualis camera's and making plates to cover any gaps as the units are shorter/thinner than the original and I wanted to find something closer to what we have. After extensively searching eBay for a suitable replacement, I stumbled upon a replacement for the Renault Koleos which is nearly identical in dimensions and fits PERFECTLY in the space the original used.

The only Modification required was to turn the camera around the other way, which was achieved via undoing the 4 screws holding it to the plastic and then the 2 holding the base of the camera on the unit. I simply turned the base around 180deg and put it all back together again.

I’m currently waiting to receive a set of Wireless transmitters so I won’t have to route any cable through difficult spots and the total cost was less than the wireless X-trail units on eBay. All in all, pretty chuffed with the find.

As far as the car is concerned, it’s absolutely brilliant. Both Vince from the compliance and Troy from Iron Chef where fantastic and would highly recommend them and their services to all. I’ve been advised that the car has Nismo Suspension and not just springs, but again I haven’t had a chance to get under it and have a proper look. It also has Auto Dip mirrors and some little aftermarket button in the driver’s foot well, which I have no idea what it does. It definitely needs a good detail as well as a cut and polish as I cant stand how dirty it gets so soon after washing and reckon a good coat of wax and sealer will help.

Eventually I’d love to get my hands on the chassis braces being made up as well as some sway-bars to help stiffen Moby Dick up.

*edit: fixed grammar and layout

You went about the reverse light the correct way, when you had the trim off there is 3 x 10mm nuts to undo then remove the complete light from the outside of the tail gate.

The problem with the attessa sounds like it could be the accumulator, this causes the system to continually pressurise as the accumulator has lost its stored pressure. A new accumulator from Nissan is $350-400 plus fitting if you can't do it your self.

I checked out your wagon while it was at Vinces, looked good.

Hi Glitch,

Thanks for info about Koleos reverse cam. I went on ebay and there are few different models. Can you drop a link on which one you went for. And also what wireless transmitters are you getting, as I am also looking into getting the reverse camera setup done... thanks in advance...

I've heard the wireless transmitters don't work properly sometimes. It could be a quality thing, or maybe distance to receiver. Let us know if you guys were successful.

Cheers.

I've got one of each sitting here, a Koleos cabled one and an Xtrail/350Z wireless one.

I'm fitting the Koleos one. Rather run the cable and know it's going to be 100% reliable.

Hey glitch, the aftermarket switch in the drivers foot well isn't oval by any chance?

Found one on the weekend...powers up switches a relay in the passengers kick panel.

Why yes it is! black oval with a green backlight when switched on. Any idea what the relay/switches do?

Thanks for the info Paul, is there a way to diagnose whether this is in fact the issue? Is the Attessa setup in the cage on the drivers side, under the boot floor?

The editting in my post changed the colour of the link, but here it is again (Reverse camera Link) and the wireless transmitter is this one.

I wasnt sure whether to wire up the Koleos one as from what I've read of Paul's writeup it can be a bit of a pain in the arse to get the cables to the Tuner... Just gotta find some time over the weekend to have a go at it, I suppose.

As it'll be hooked up to the Factory tuner, the distance issue shouldnt apply I would have thought, so it would fall to the actual quality of the product. I'll have a good look at it when it arrives and make the decision then.

I'll definitely post an update once its all done and dusted =)

SOFT! I'm running mine back to the head unit, as my aftermarket head unit has a reverse camera in. Ten times the fun! :D

not sure, but after a couple of test i'm pretty sure its for the Two Stage Boost Cut? someone got more info on this? really need someone with some better knowledge to go over mine to tell me if any no standard option/ mods Scotty fancy a drive by and Beer??

I had a quick search on here regarding 2 stage boot cut but couldnt really see anything relevant. Can anyone clarify what it's supposed to do so that the next time I'm in the driver's seat I can give it a test?

To the front of the car, ey? I would have to concede, then, that my tuner effort is indeed soft in comparison. My headunit has reverse imput but I neither have the keys to gain access nor the patience to try to hard wire the camera to the front. I might try the wireless unit, however, if i can get to the back of it. The goal always was to utilise the stock monitor as it really doesnt serve any purpose apart from mileage at the moment.

The wiring is pretty easy. I can show you how/where to run it of you like.

That would be absolutely awesome, I just have no idea when i'll have a wknd free as I've been "hired" to help complete the renos on the house. Still alot that needs to be done at this stage. I'd be happy to drop you a line when some free time comes into view, if you're still keen... =)

    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
    • So my car is finally back from paint! This took an absolutely insane amount of work and should get it's own build thread - but I didn't build it. It was completed by Troy @ https://scalekustoms.com.au/ I originally bought the AOSHIMA URAS Type R kit while I was in Japan, it's supposed to look like this when assembled: Now, I thought that was cool enough until I opened the box with Dismay, as there's no way I could possibly have completed it. The thing is 1/24 and has details down to the steering wheel horn button, which is a 2mm diameter sticker. I originally wondered if someone could make it at all, as is - But then things got a little carried away. It's worth noting that the model does not have an openable bonne, let alone engine bay, OR an openable boot. - Troy has worked wonders with 3D printer and presumably better eyes than I will ever have. My photos suck, so I will post up some of his in-progress ones he sent to me during the way. Unsuprisingly, he is very detailed. A lot of these are out of order. But he: 1) Made a LS engine and an engine bay appear out of thin air 2) Made the bonnet removable 3) Printed the rims I will buy in the future (or any rim you want) 4) Printed and added the wing that is going on 5) Tinted my back windows as this is what my car has IRL (privacy glass) 6) Added a licence plate. 7) Somehow did the interior 8) 3D Printed my actual seats 9) Made the exhaust under the car connect even though this is likely invisible. 10) Created a boot with my fking battery box, power steering reservoir, subwoofer and toolboxes back there. To say it's insane is an understatement. And I f**ked it all up because when I was re-mounting the wing (it broke in transit) I spilled glue everywhere and ripped paint up and Gregged the rear half of the car. Which about makes sense. Also, this arrived on the same day. Quite the change from: I spent 16 hours per day over the next 3 days pre-christmas putting the interior back together, mounting lip, fixing various bodykit problems with window mouldings, etc. and servicing, rebuilding my 370z brakes to go on the car 'soon', messing with heights to check clearances for new wheels, etc. I also had a foray into mounting wiper-mounted washer jets which was an absolute disaster. The bodyshop has welded (and painted) over the stock jet locations for reasons unknown to everybody (i.e they forgot) I also wanted to wire in the oil pressure sensor on Christmas Eve which was a BAD IDEA. You do not know terror like pulling your ECU apart, pinning in half-fitting pins that aren't the right ones, but trying anyway because it's Christmas eve, putting your ECU back together and having a no-start condition with a fuel pump not priming. Then you undo all your work and the fuel pump still doesn't prime. So after all that terror and horror and pain and tedious disassembly, the issue was the relay in the boot which seems to have died/stuck when I was turning the car off and on about 700 times testing shitty washer jets. I also re-wired the fuel pump power plug which fell apart in my hands. I am very happy I had 3 extra pre-made ones from a few posts/last Christmas's breakdown. https://bluewireautomotive.com/products/10-x-pcm-ecm-ecu-terminals I have put an order for these in, so I can actually add the pins to the ECU properly. The commodore ECU does not have the pins for Oil Pressure via ODB2. However the ECU can support it if you create the pins and wire them in. So for round two, and somehow attempting to route that into the engine bay through my impossible engine bay grommet is a fight for another day. It's 40C in Melbourne tomorrow, I am half tempted to drive the car with the aircon on to deliver presents to my partner's family and see if it helps with the overheating-on-40C-days-in-traffic-with-aircon-on-only issue that the vents were intended to solve. Do I feel lucky?
