I have just bought an r33 and i was wondering is it dangerous on the engine when I redline from time to time. this evening was first time i hit the limiter when going through a tunnel and i didnt realise how much the car would bang and shoot flames. should i be staying away from doing this or is it ok now and again

Thats fully sik bro, a pimp car like that needs to be redlined as often as possible when u get the chance, not driven like a nanny! Thats what skylines r made for bro, RBs are made for that n flames n banging are perfectly normal....

If you hold it on the red-zone for like 15-20secs while driving n shifting every couple days or so, you will have a very healthy n clean engine as that will suck all the shit n carbon build-up out of your engine as some dude mentioned above.

yeah limiter bashing is completely fine . . I used to do it all the time . . . Well Atleast until something unrelated killed my oil pump . . But as i say , that was absolutely nothing to do with limiter .

Oh yeah and some chikos and most cops give mad respect for limiter bashing and flames.

I suggest you read up on rb engines and valve bashing it hmm wonder why they call it valve bouncing?

Redline/limiter /= valve bounce.

I used to hit the limiter often in my 33. No harm done.

I wouldn't suggest holding it on the limiter, but flicking it every now and then won't be too much of an issue.
