Save $$$ on installing Z32 AFM

Hi Everybody.

It's a little known fact that the AFM harness/plug assembly from any 6cyl VL Commodore will fit a Z32 afm without modification. Don't get ripped $40 or more for a Tomei item.

Of course you will need to splice it into your Nissan harness, solder, heatshrink & pack the lot with butyl or similar sealant, this is basic stuff. See the pic for pinouts.

The RB30E and ET AFM is a Bosch Item.

R33 S1 AFM's work fine on my R32.

AF's on the dyno are exactly the same.

note actual ecu/loom pin connections for z31/r31 VG/RB30xxx are different locations and voltages (2-4 volt)

A - mixture

B - VCC (12v ign relay)

C - cleaning

D - output (2-4v)

E - ECU gnd

F - chasis gnd

z32/r32 upwards are 0-5v and ecus are very similar. using the RB30 plug of course as described mentioned above isn't a problem!

Does anyone know if the wire colours on a R32 GTSt correspond with the wire colours in the diagram in the first post?

As per Joels post, the S1 R33 AFM plugged into his R32 GTSt and ran like it was a R32 item, just want to be sure before I start cutting wires!

Of interest you can also get new ones from Petroject to suit the Z32 AFM for $24 each (just tell them its trade) - but 2nd hand VL ones are quicker to fit.

Stoop Question.Does that diagram correspond with being able to wire a Z32 in place of S1R33 afm?

Now that we have the Z32 afm fitted, is there much to do in the way of tuning it so the mixtures etc are correct?

Also for GTR owners, if your not keen on buying z32 or bosch items rb20 afm's are apparently straight fit for the standard plug, another gtr owner on here is running them and has over 500rwhp so you can definatly get more than standard gtr afm's
