Rb25 Into R32 No Spark

Hi guys

Went to a mate's to wire up his ecu on his rb25 conversion everything is sweet except I have no spark at the plugs. I have constant power, switched power, fuel relay all wiring. There is earth and ecu signal at the coil plug wiring. But no spark.

Now the owner wanted to keep his rb20 splitfires and he wiring in the plugs to suit.

I'm thinking its either not wired in the plug properly or the coil won't work on series 2 loom?

Hmm RB25 from a series 2 R33? Pretty sure they take coilpacks with builtin ignitors whereas RB20 splitfires required an external ignitor. I'm not 100% sure though.

Absolutely. RB20 coils have no internal igniters. RB25 S2 and Neo do. Wrong coils.

How would I tell if the coils are series 2

Pretty much, if you had to rewire the coil loom to suit theRB20 coils, then the engine is probably not a series 1. Series 1 RB25 used the same coils as the RB20. Series 2 used different connectors.

So only series 2 have grey connectors?

Is it the same wiring into the plug so both series?

you can easily wire in the rb20 ignitor in to the s2 loom and it will work fine.

Well, no, it's not the same wiring. That's the point. The RB20 and S1 25s have an ignitor module on top of the cam cover. The signal wires from the ECU go there, and the igniters drive the coils. On the S2s, the signal wires from the ECU go straight to the coils.

plugs are different and wires are around a different way. easy job to re wire if u have a s2 coil pack loom or are able to make one
