gday guys,

i havent had aircon for a few months and havent bothered to look into it as it hasnt been hot, just had a look and my gas line that runs inbetween the firewall and the aircon unit in the engine bay has a hole in it.

dad tells me that all the gas will be gone and the compressor may be stuff as the gas carries the oil that lubricates the compressor.

also i will need an evacuation as moisture is probably in the system.

just wondering will this be the case? or is there a gas cut off somewhere and i can just replace the hose and all will be well???

also are there any tests i can do to see if its stuffed??

The gas will be gone. Replace the hose and the reciever/drier with the sightglass in the top (this catches any crap in the sytem.

Then get someone to evacuate and charge with R134a

The compressor will not go with no gas in the system as the pressure switch will be open circuit

+1, dirty is right. Since the pressure switch stops the compressor from running is should be ok even though there's been no gas in the system.
