They are only worth what someone will pay no matter how much you still owe them. As Benny says the swap price and the advertised price are never the equal.

There will always be people who bought one new and are not prepared to take a bath so hang on (and can afford to hang on). And there will be people who, for one reason or another, will take a haircut because they want out.

The market never lies!

So you're trading in at just over 100K. What are you trading in on? How much are you spending with the dealer? How much money will the dealer be making on the new car he sells you? Ask him how much he'll give you for the car wholesale! Get my drift?

9,000 klms, 100k. Can't really ask for much better if it's immaculate.

They're starting to come out of the wood work now! Maybe 90K is not that far away after all!

$90k is probably on the low side but good luck, it's a very small market. Either way, you're going to drop $1.5k a month on depreciation yourself for a while, too. Which will make the $10k you save (vs the current price) look like play money.

Im shopping for a new car at present, have been searching for a clean gayside blue R34 GTR for quite a while with no luck.

That depreciation is accurate and fantastic (for buyers). To me - it makes the R35 even more appealing.

how bout that one??

My dealer is trading my 09 in for just over the 100 mark, I assume they will turn it around to the next buyer for about 110 ish.

My advice:

1. You may have to up your budget a little, maybe by as much as 20 - 25%

2. Dont worry about the number, it only happens once, after that it is all about the car, and what a car it is!

You will be delighted, go on, do it!

Yeah that’s fair enough, thanks for all the feedback and advice guys. I have pushed out the budget to 100K and see what I can find.

Really want a black GTR, but it’s becoming much harder then I thought.

Hey mate, a nice grey one was listed @ $99,000 last night on car sales.

Hope it helps!

It may be a ballpark figure...

a) now if it comes up at a Pickles Prestige Car Auction

b) now as a 'repo'

c) soon if the Euro collapses > negative spin-off everywhere else

Methinks an ADM will maintain its value better over time than a JDM too.

From memory, ADM R35 was released around April 2009.

So im curious to see if a swarm of them enter the market around April this year when the 3 year leases end.

Obviously this would mean more to choose from and in turn - even more competitive / lower prices.

Definitely was April 2009 - I remember it well. :)

But there was also a very small influx of cars from the initial delivery - so really don't expect to see a whole lot until around June / July if you think the 3 year thing will be the key factor.

In the mean time, while you are all waiting for them to come down..............

You are missing out on DRIVING it.

Anything under $110,000 for an R35 is the bargain of the century!

And, while I have loved the R34s, they are not even on the same planet as the R35s.

Can't believe people that own these GTR's. I have spoken to three people selling black ones and they are all F#@ked in the head.

All I want is a BLACK GTR, I'm offering good money not low balling anyone and still. OVER IT !!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi all   what short shifter do you use on your skykine r34?   my synchronous does have a problem and i was getting huge delay and grinding sound between 2nd and 3rd, did put shockproof red heavy stuff and it is great now/ no issues   would in your view short shifter screw this up?   people seems to suggest/ use cube short shifter and there is standard and premium. Seen review of premium as much better and less play. Thoughts?
    • Yeah, there's a bit of a density and friability difference between pebbles and any of those other things. Silicone will definitely float in oil and so will be mobile enough to move around. Although, again, if it is upstream of the filter it really shouldn't go any further. I would only ever worry about silicone when it is in places downstream of the filter. Upstream of the pickup is a whole 'nother matter. We've all seen what that does. I have seen the most abominable crap settled out in industrial gearboxes, trunnion lube systems and the like, without any sign that any of it has touched anything in the machine. Just chilling in the bottom, waiting for the inevitable operator error that causes the whole machine to need to be dismantled for repairs.
    • I have seen enough fire and brimstone from TSBs about roloc disks causing spun bearings that foreign object contamination is top of mind for me. For sufficiently large particles you might be right but usually it’s a distribution of debris and some of the larger particles can also break down and shed bits. If local shops report RTV contamination in a turbo is enough to wreck them I’m taking zero chances if I can help it.
