is the from ashes DLC worth getting? the prothean guy seems cool, but does it actually add that much to the game?

Yes I definetly think so. There is a quite a few interactions between Javik (the Prothean) and Shephard and the rest of the crew. He actually has cutscenes and proper interactions unlike Zaeed and Kasumi from ME2. Also he comes with the Prothean Beam Assualt rifle which is pretty sweet.

I used Javik on my squad all the time when i first got him. not so much anymore though but that probably got more to do with my current play style as infiltrator. he has some pretty good dialogue, mainly condescending remarks towards the other species but some of them make me laugh. If you want to use him he uses automatic rifles and heavy pistols, and has a few biotic abilities and lift grenades. Even if you don't use him, the mission where you meet him is a really good one, has some great scenes of the prothean reaper war, and afterwards back on the normandy when you can talk/investigate him you get some interesting info out of him about the prothean empire.

possible SPOILERS below......... though i think i'm the only one in this thread that hasn't finished the game yet lol

i'm now 35 hours in and just got the Thessia mission of the Asari ambassador. I was stoked that i managed to talk the Geth and Quarians into peace and scored them both as war assets but i lost Wrex and Clan Urdnot when i had to kill him on the Citadel, i knew that sabotage would come back and bite me in the ass. all good though, it worked with the fact that i destroyed the genophage data in my ME2 save. Next play though will be with another save were i kept the data, and i won't sabotage the cure.

A question for the guys that have finished it, just a simple yes/no is good. i've done really well and don't know the ending yet despite all the internet coverage of it (so no spoilers please). however, i do know there are multiple endings, can i save the game at some point and keep replaying the last bit and see all the endings?

pretty sure theres an autosave pretty much just before the final choice. And the final mission sequence is available to replay after you've finished the game.

I thought, if you destroyed the genophage data in ME2 and kept Wrex alive, you could fool the Krogan into thinking the genophage was cured and Mordin survives as well? then you get both the salarians and the krogan's support? if you keep the genophage data and dont sabotage, you only get krogan support, no salarians

cool, i plan on playing it again anyway but it would be good to see all the endings without having to.

i'm not sure how all the combinations play out. i think Maelon's genophage data probably has more to do with weather or not the female krogan, Eve, survives. i destroyed it in the imported save i'm playing at the moment and apart from Wrex getting a little pissed off at me, all of Mordins research logs that you can listen to keep mentioning how much easier and better it would be with the data, even though Mordin says its fine and it was the write decision. Then later Mordin says that the female may have survived if he had the data to work from. A few comments later on lead me to believe that if i kept the data, Eve would survive and rally more krogan troops, i guess it would have been some more war assets.

as for Mordin i only had two options, shoot Mordin or let him fix the sabotage. though i think even if he had fixed it he would have died as the shroud blew up shortly after he got to the top, didn't look like he would have had much time to get back down. and yeah, i kept Wrex alive. i'n my next play though i have a save where i kept the data so i'll see how that plays out.

saw a thing on youtube where mordin finds out about the sabotage and before he gets into the lift, a paragon option comes up where you persuade him to not fix the sabotage. he then goes off to work on the crucible. so the krogan think the genophage has been cured and the salarians join up as well. then i think wrex confronts you on the citadel later though.

EDIT: Found a guide to the genophage shroud part

http://www.rarityguide.com/articles/articles/1740/1/Mass-Effect-3-Walkthrough-Part-38-The-Shroud/Page1.html

If you choose to allow Modrin to proceed to the top of the Shroud, this process will be relatively painless. He will get into the elevator, Shepard will wish him luck and leave the erupting facility, and Mordin will successfully process the genophage cure through the Shroud. However, he will do so at the cost of his own life. The facility will explode around him after the cure has been distributed through the air.

If you choose to delay Mordin, he will see right through your act and confront you. In this confrontation, there are several possible results. First, if Wrex survived the first Mass Effect and is currently leading the krogan troops outside, Mordin will refuse to deny his friend the genophage cure. He must atone for his past sins in infantilizing the entire species, or so he feels. This will leave you with two options. One, you can allow Mordin to proceed to the top of the tower unopposed, which will lead to the previously mentioned outcome of his distributing the genophage before dying. The second option is to kill Mordin yourself, thus denying the krogan the cure to the genophage and securing the allegiance of Dalatrass and her salarians. Keep in mind, however, that if you do allow Mordin to proceed with the cure, you will not lose all of the salarians, merely the ones under Dalatrass’ command. When you return to the Normandy after this mission, you can speak with Admiral Hackett to learn that several splinter factions of salarian troopers have left their home planet behind and joined you in your fight against the Reapers. It’s not as significant as having the backing of their entire species, but it’s something.

However, if Wreav is the krogan leader and you did not pursue Maelon’s research in Mass Effect 2, then Eve will be dead and Wreav will be leading the krogan with a barbaric hand. Then, and only then, you can actually convince Mordin to allow the cure to fail. You can also proceed with the previous two options of allowing him to go up or murdering him. If, however, Eve is still alive, you will not be able to convince Mordin to leave his research to die even if Wreav is the leader of the krogan.

If you sabotage the genophage, the Dalatrass will be true to her word and you will gain the allegiance of both the entire salarian species as well as the entire krogan species. But if Wrex was alive and you had to murder Mordin to secure this tenuous alliance, be aware that not all will remain smooth sailing. While Wreav will be too dumb to discover your treachery, Wrex is cunning, and will eventually find out that you double crossed him. Blinded by rage, he will threaten to reveal your treachery to his entire species, or worse, kill you on the spot. You will have no choice but to kill him, and in doing so, sacrifice the allegiance of his entire species, as you essentially have just murdered their King.

^^^ good info cheers.gif i kept wrex in all on my saves so can't really do the sabotage and get away with it route. i think with a new game and not importing a save it defaults to wrex being dead, but i remember the other assumptions were garbage and it didn't take into account any dlc choices you made, so i'm not really interested in playing without importing a save.

i also just finished this game today, 43 hours. first play though, mainly renegade the whole way, did every side mission, only had about 3600 EMS and got the 3 ending options. i made my choice and i'm happy with the ending, i don't really see why everyone is getting so upset about it. i went on the various forums to see what all the fuss is about and i just think those guys are over thinking, over analysing the endings. they are good endings and i really hope bioware doesn't a change a thing or release another ending as DLC. personally i don't like the control ending but the synthesis and destroy endings are good.

yeah, if you dont import an ME1 save, Wrex dies, the council dies and the rachni queen dies.

i dont know what if you dont import an ME2 file, exept that Maelon's (Mordins genophage friend) data is destroyed and not all of your crew survive the final mission so you wont be seeing them in ME3

thinking about doing this; ME3 didn't pick up my saved game so i had heaps of people on the roster in the crew deck :( might have to hack one up and stick it in the right spot... and hope for the best. I WANT THE OLD GANG BACK

the endings actually starting to grow on me. parts of it. I dont see why thy had to (Spoilers)

introduce the catalyst as an entire new entity that late in the game and I still dont believe my crew would just leave my shepard.

Also, the Reapers have terrible communication skills. when you kill the one on Rannoch it says "the cycle must continue",

then Shepard says "what are you talking about?"

then the reaper says "its not a thing you can comprehend".

on my replay i just thought gee, that citadel kid explained well enough.

(End Spoiler)

i'll be downloading this on the weekend. i've read its best to start from the cerberus assault mission and replay that whole retake earth missions. i couldn't be asses about the galactic readiness, i'll just play it through with the difficulty on like super easy so i can quickly end all the battles, once with my paragon and once with my renegade. any of the other cut scenes i'll watch on youtube.

on a good note it looks like they didn't completely change the endings to satisfy the vocal minority demanding they change it. these appear to just be extra cut scenes to expand on the existing endings.

here is a link with videos of the new endings and details of the changes.

looks like there is one more new "rejection" ending where you confront the catalyst.

thanks for the link.

I watched the refusal ending... I know the kid is really the 'catalyst' & all... but did he just f**king shoot at a kid?!

yep, the refusal ending gets triggered throught conversation or turning around and shooting the kid when you have to choose.
