Hey guys,

Recently did an oil change on a RB25. I put on 4.5L but nothing has showed up on the dipstick. Any ideas as to why? Wrong dipstick in the car? Will an RB30 one suit? No problems with the car at all and it runs like a dream. First RB25 that I've owned so im a bit stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

rb30 dipstick is shorter and wont tell you anything other than its the wrong dipstick for the motor.

forget how much you put in, fill it up until its on the high mark on the dipstick, aslong as doesnt take a ridiculous amount to do this dont worry about it.

This is terrible advice if it has the wrong dipstick in it you dipstick :P Trololol

if you put in 4.5l then you will be fine. But if your worried, an extra 500mills wont hurt it at all. I run 5L through every time i do an oil change. And agreed with the last post, try borrow a mates one or someone elses if you go to a SAU meet or something :)

hence why i said:

basically what i mean is you should drain the oil and change the filter then chuck in around 4-4.5L, check the dipstick and top it up until its right. obviously if you've only put 3L in and its showing full you have the wrong dipstick or one hell of a dented sump....

no 2 engines are going to take exactly the same amount of oil to reach the right level, it depends on the angle of the car at the time, how dented your sump is, how long you wait for it to drain down from the head before measuring etc.

anyone who changes the dipstick in a car without checking the length first is a dipstick :)

I haven't been too worried about it as I know what is in there. Just worried that I wont know when it gets low. Can anybody tell me a part number or something that might be on their RB25 stick so I can compare? Would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
