Hey guys. I've got an r33 series 2 that I've had for 4 years now. Had it from 50000kms. Ive done pretty all the bolt on mods which I thought best and the car is running fine. Im getting 250rwkw. I want to look into rebuilding it as it is pushing 160000kms now and Im never gonna sell it, lol. Did most of the work myself but now I just want a strong engine. It's not exactly a daily driver, just a run around car. Not racing it or nothin like that. I don't even know where to start or how to go about it. Advice??

Just like the saying dont fix it if nots broken. With 250kw on a stock engine with a good tune espically on a daily there is no reason why it will die anytime soon so dont waste your money on a built engine for 250kw when your one at the moment is healthy. When the time comes to need to build it why not just do it then?

do a comp test and if it comes back good do what the other guys have said and spend the cash on something else and keep enjoying it. Don't fix what isn't broke and when it does break fix it properly

110,000kms in 4 years WTF, do you drive from Canberra to Sydney for work every day?

You could get another 100,000 or more. People have been running 300kw for years. A good tune and regular maintainence are the key (and a smidgen of luck).

This. When I was in the market for a skyline, I did actually see some stock turbo and some modded skylines with close to 250xxxkm on the clocks. Naturally I wouldn't buy a car with such high km, especially since they aren't rebuilds, but with that said I would not have a worry in the world if the car I owned made it from 92000km all the way to 200000km. I know that if it does let go, either I done something wrong or I didn't take care of it properly. Ive had more issues in my car not related to the engine than things that have been engine wise, and most of them are f**king noises(squeaks, squeals, noises that are normal for old cars but frustrate the hell out of me).

Keep her going man, these Rb25's are stronger than the Rb30 motor holden used. My cousin has a Vl with 330000km on the clock. Non turbo but he does and the past owners have given the car a hard time. They still take care of them right, regular oil changes, when something is playing up get it fixed before it gets worse etc.

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
