Is there a place in Clayton called MV Automatics?

They have been recommended to me but i cant find them on google in Melbourne.

Seems they are in SA.

Anyone know?

I had my shift kit done at RVO Auto in Dandenong....they should be able to help you out if you can't find anyone else...

Oops just read the whole thread and saw that you already went to RVO.

I didn't have any issues with RVO. They changed my valve body over too. However I brought my own Matic J along as I didn't know wtf they were goig to put int.

Aaron (who used to have an ARX) also had his trans done at RVO and insisted on Nuon ATF.

Seems like they've done a few M35 by now...so you'd think they'd know NOT to use Dex III stuff...you'd hope.

Going back to RVO next week for a look in the pan.

It sounds like it"s going to cost anywhere between $300 and $1500 depending on what they find.

If they suggest closer to the high end I've got a box with 80,000K on it lined up.

Quoted $1,800 installed and I'll get the car dealer to go halves.

Just worried the dealer will want to refund my money on the car and take it back, fix the box and re-sell the car for a higher price.

You know I got it cheap :whistling:

If you use the gear box only in manual mode the oil will get very hot as when in manual mode the fluid does NOT go through the radiator to cool. It only goes through the radiator when in Auto mode.

If you overheat the gear box it will not shift down easily.

A transmission cooler is a great addition for our climate and some thing most of us have installed.

Forgive my ignorance with this question as I'm yet to fit a transmission cooler...

If you put a cooler on the transmission don't you use the lines that loop through the radiator?

If this is the case the cooler still won't work when in manual mode?

This would make the cooler pointless when you're having a spirited drive in manual mode wouldn't it?

Is there a way around this?

So glad I haven't fitted my TransGo kit yet. On the cards when I get back.

Anyone know where you can buy this kit? I'm having a search around and not finding anything that concrete...

hmmm....some more reading!!!

I read the pdf on this part and it was only needed in gearboxes with wear on the cooler valve. There was a wet test to see the condition.

This kit just provides a better seal where it need resurfacing.

Yep. Just read that PDF. This kit isn't what I was thinking it was. Atleast I don't need to rip out the valve body again.

So is there a way to have fluid running through the cooler when in manual mode at all then?

Cam seems to think it does, perhaps we could get a few people to test by driving in manual and carefully checking the temp the trans cooler gets to? If its not ccoling I would be surprised.

I drive in manual constantly so I will try and check sometime too.

So why do guys think it doesn't cool the fluid when in manual mode? Did they find something in a manual stating it doesn't or just a hunch?

How are you checking oil temps in the trans, Do you have an a/market gauge fitted?

I'm keen to know the outcome on this as I never use manual mode as too worried I'll over heat the trans.

I "tested" it by going on a long drive in manual mode when I was running the PWR and Mishimoto trans coolers in series (no radiator in tank regulator), both of which were mounted on brackets and not touching the radiator at all.

Was curious as to how hot the coolers got so did the drive and put my hand on the PWR cooler when I got back. It was quite warm. The only time the car was out of manual mode was when reversing out of the driveway.

Scientific? No. Logical? To me, yes.
