Official Cruise: 24.04.04 Macedon (PICTURES)

Recommended Posts

That was one of the all time best cruises!!

A BIG thumbs up to Ash, Andrew and James. The route was exceptional and the maps very detailed. If only i could follow it and look where i am going, that way i would not cause 13 cars to double back :(.

As Shivam stated, we continued the day with alot of drinks at the pub and didn't get home till 4:30am. Thus far i have not even looked at the pics on my digi!

more cb's indeed... me n ash thought it got a lil crowded n hopped on channel 14 for a while.

CB's are a must coz ts like open comedy channel. free to air kerpaal.

I'm annoyed I couldn't make this cruise (or any cruises in the near future), cause it looked like it was a good turnout and plenty of fun. Think I might whore a ride for the next cruise if possible (suspended license) *hint*, as it looks like it was a well organised run.

I wouldn't mind organising another one, or at least helping organising one, as I've got a few nice ideas if anyone's interested.

However I reckon the weather in Melbourne is going to be fairly crappy over the next few months, although it can be more fun/dangerous in the wet ;p

Man what a cruise...!! I left just before that mass group photo was taken grrr..

I had an awesome time as I was in the first group and up with the first pack of about 7 cars... my 31 and the rest where GTR's and a GT-T! I was very happy that I managed to stick up with them and man did we go hard... I even lost 2 GTR's who where not keeping up with us :(

Tremendous job by James, Andrew & Ash.. thanks Ash for leading us the wrong way on the way to the winery :)

Good to finally put some names to faces but still only met probably 1/8 of the people who rocked up..

Look forward to the next one..

Pretty much man....

I think we interpretated the speed signs a little uncorrect...

:(

Was mad to go for such a fang... im just stoked that I was keeping up with all these GTR's :)

The way me and Ron kept up in our r31's... and I know Ash and acsplit where belting it hard too... you cant give us 31 drivers a hard time... :D

btw sorry on the crest parts where i was infront of a bunch of you and it turned into a one lane 2 way road i was going to try to pull over but going [the speed limit] in a thing thats heavy on the arms and has killer weight issues on the back on a road with dirt on either side would of been a tad awkward

next time i will have the line

yes but r31's still look like shoeboxes no matter what speed they were goin at :(

BTW keep mentions of speeds down fellas, we don't wanna give a bad impression

In the first section at the base of a hill I managed to bottom out on something. The two R33 GT-Rs (CR3ATION and ALSGTR?) behind me were showered with sparks.

I managed to make it all the way home with 1/4 tank too... James, I'm rubbing it in again :(

Oh and Dox, I was sitting behind you for that single lane section, but wasn't itching to get past. Thanks for pulling over at the right hander though, but the winery was only a couple of kilometres down the road.

Yeah I was hesitant to mentoin anything about speed... I'll edit that post now..

Shoeboxes?!?! Well in that case, how do you feel getting owned by a shoebox? hehehe joking :)

A big thankyou to everyone that came along. I had a great day :)

Weather held off and the turnout was fantastic. The positive feedback encourages us to continue to try and provide more days like this.

:(

I couldnt agree more.

As long as everyone has a great day, then it definately makes the planning etc worthwhile!

Now, onto planning the next cruise.

I think SAU-Vic is fast becoming one of the best cruise clubs in Vic.

so thanks to all of you guys that rock up as you make the day!

Had a ball as always. So many new members it great too see (sorry i didnt get around to everyone)

As far as things are concerned everyone did the speed limit, everyone arrived safely, everyone’s in one piece and many front bars need a respray: D Lolz

Hahahaha, keeping up the public relations is always a good idea Rob. On a slightly different tangent, is there official memberships for SAU and/or SAU-VIC. As I haven't been active on the forums for a while, I remember something mentioned about SAU/CAMS affiliation...

Guaging from the turn-out, it's definately looking to be one of the best cruise clubs in VIC, and I can't wait to get involved!

Yes There is atm a official SAU-VIC club being setup and it shouldnt be too long before its all organised, pretty much as soon as its up and running everyone will know & no one will miss out (nothing to worrie about) as with CAMS etc there will be a option for the through the Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club (NDSOC) that memeber will be able to sign up though SAU-VIC. All in time pretty much...

Thanks for the photo oak...but i think the last count on the way home it was 5 to 4...MY WAY........I think also my front bar is due for a respray now after that cruise...i think i need to fix the chips on the windscreen as well.. anyone else cop rocks on the windscreen!!haha

Good day..thanks to everyone who organised it

hey Al and Shivram...thanks for the invite..just kiddin

    • You know, that is exactly the thing that I was thinking a coupe of hours ago. I even had a plan for a meme, involving one big one, another big one, and the Old El Paso girl saying "¿por que no los dos?"
    • NoS, 2 of the big ones.
    • Oh, that's grim. Something bad has been happening there.
    • Put an endoscope down the hole and saw this. Not quite all around the bore but a good 60% at least. Chin to the chest and towards further disappointments I guess.
    • 2 does "sort of" applies, maybe......but looking at what parts would be needed for the swap to get engineered, registered, and insured, and basically that's everything under the car, the modifications the make it legal would be problematic and horrendously expensive, all for a street car that just cruises around and hits a few twisty roads on the weekends Also, from looking at the NSW rules and Regs, with all modifications that is required just to make the car safe and not twist itself to pieces, and then actually get registered for street use, may still be impossible nowadays As for 1, when you add in a fresh engine, fresh transmission, rear cradle and diff, tailshaft, suspension, brakes, cooling, and all the other fabrication required, your probably looking at up to $100k to do it right, all for a 20 year old MX5 that is over engineered and you would never be able to actually use the power it has on the street, much like your beastie, which I love, but you actually track that thing and can use all of its powers in anger, in a safe environment  Hell, the old Bogan Cruise Ship had more power than I could use on the street, and in hindsight, I went a bit silly on that thing, it didn't really need the 500hp it had for what I actually used the car for, it was fun, but basically unusable on the street if you value your licence  As for cams, yeah, I'll probably book it in for them to get installed and tuned soonish, like next month after MX5 Mania are back at work....... and yes, I've already sent a email to bin the turbo quote and quote instead to install cams and a new Fluidampr balancer that will suit the 2.5 better than the OEM 2.0 balancer that is swapped over for the 2.5 install, as the balancer needs to get pulled to time the cams it's a while your in there sort of thing I did think a bit about flex fuel for a laugh, but being na, and no where really around locally anymore to get E85, I've binned that idea, so no sweet sweet corn smells are set for the car I wish E85 was more of a standard fuel, it's better for the environment, better for tuning, plus that sweet sweet smell we all love As for fitting in the family, that's not needed, as everyone in the family already owns a car that can seat 5 humans comfortably enough, the MX5 is "my toy" As for buying a car that is already built, nah, I would rather pick and choose my parts, I enjoy the process, and in the big picture, the additional cost is well worth the enjoyment, and the occasional frustration, I get out of doing it, albeit with other people spinning the spanners, and me, just paying the invoice 🤣
