Hi guys,

was hoping i can get a little help regarding the suspension in my r33.

Firstly, is it normal for the suspension to make a 'pssh' sound when going over speed bumps etc? It sounds like air escaping or something?

I also hear a creak sound from the front right, like when the suspension compresses? And a hollow thump sound from the rear left, like something rolling around in the boot. i heard this is also suspension related? These sounds are only evident when taking slow speed humps etc.

If i were to replace some parts of the suspension to fix this, what exactly am i looking for? And at what cost?

Apologies if these are silly questions. Im not very mechanically minded (although learning slowly) The skyline is my first car after owning motorbikes for years.

Thanks!

Dex

Psssh noises can be oil and or oil/N2 foam squirting through the valves in the dampers.

Creak is probably a dry bush (if you have urethane bushes that need some moly grease put back on them) or a similar metal/metal bush noise perhaps.

Hollow thump is probably a worn bush.

Thanks for that guys..i will look into those suggestions.

Im guessing the 'pssh' sound is not normal then?

Usually means a worn shock absorber.

Why not take it to your local suspension shop to have a look over? Sounds like a good excuse to buy some coilovers and dump your car to the weeds! :nyaanyaa:

Just a heads up for the unwary perhaps; I put mineral based lube/grease on some poly bushes on the old 4wd one time...........turned them to jelly in no time flat. Used the "White grease" since then, no idea what it is made up of but no more soft bushes for me.

Cheers, GW

PS: x2 for taking the beast to a suspension joint for a survey before too much money is spent in the wrong place...........or worse.
