Yeah, they were all 50y+ very different crowd to us. Most of they're 'winning' shots were just snap shots. the one that WON the digital manipulation was a abortion of hdr. i wanted to rip it off the wall it was so bad. Even my gf said... 'wow... that's shit'.

yep i made the website, it's based on a template though, i just edited some stuff, and stuck it back together. I've got a mate who is a code king, he just helped me clean a few things up. I'll have a look at the top menu thing next time i sit down to work on it (need to update motorsport porfolio. it's almost empty. Thanks for looking and double thanks for your feedback and ideas! your a champ!

Rule of thirds.. meh.. Just shoot the way you like. Why stick to rules and be like everyone else.

But ok I agree sometimes framing it properly is good, but you dont have to do it for every single shot.

Who needs a macro lens when you got a small compact camera which can do the same job!!!

Canon s95 :)

was there some snow blowing over the car or something? :/

I asked the dude what they judge on, he went on about the rule of 3rds like it was the most important thing to a photo.

he said I should never shoot into the sun. (which it one of my favorite things to do) So i got marked down for shooting into the sun AND maintaining a good exposure through the shot.

what the f**k is an idiot like that doing judging a photography competition? seriously??? i bet the daft bastard hasnt heard of golden sections, negative space, leading lines or the fibonacci spiral. *sigh x1000*

its people like him that make me realize a career as a cleaner isnt that bad. even tho im not having much luck getting a job in that industry, but fingers crossed... got a few applications in at the moment.

I am planning on helping the Apex foundation provide relief for cancer patients and their families. Every year since 2007 they have run an Outback postie bike ride to raise funds for Apex and this year I hope to be a part of the ride. Riders need to raise a minimum of $500 for Apex before they can participate. My mum bought a postie bike and to cut a long story short me and my brother gave it an exciting but hard life and its in need of restoration if its going to be ridden on the ride. This is the bike in question...

Yeah, she is a mess. Anyway, in order to get the bike finished by the time the Apex ride starts (Mid October) I need to finance the restoration project. Thats where "Mums postie bike" comes into it. I plan on using the page as somewhere to document the project and to share the names of everyone who helps make the dream a reality. I'm hoping it will be a good promotional tool for local companies wanting to help me to help the Apex foundation. If the ride becomes a reality it will also be somewhere to keep everyone up to date on the ride and all the crazy things we get up to while spending 4 days traveling over 1100km of some of the countries toughest terrain in the South Australian outback. So to make it relevant to the thread, its going to have a heap of awesome pics of crazy two wheeled action, included me stacking once or twice no doubt, lol. if you read all this, cheers... now go like http://www.facebook.com/MumsPostieBike

thanks.

liked! Good luck dude!

Took some pics of the gf yesterday out in our luxurious studio (read garage with a black sheet) haha

First real beauty retouch for agessssssssssssss... annd probably only the 2nd I've ever done. Hopefully when I compare this one to the ones at the end of the set we'll all see some improvment. Feedback/comments welcome.

Rules are made to be broken. The rule of 3rds and anything else goes out the window is you INTENT was to shoot in that manner.

Hey Matt

I hope you don't mind, but I've ninjad your photo to play around with it. I thought I'd show you a slightly different approach. If you don't want me to do this again, please say so and I won't.

A new layer of black in the same shape of her face was thrown over the top, blended and opacity changed appropriately to give a softer looking light over her face. She has really nice skin but some of the areas seem a little more 'bumpy', so I've tried to smooth out those areas a little bit so it isn't as prominent. There is a little bit of this whiteish colour above her right eye, I've tried to dull those white lines a bit. Her eyes have also been sharpened.

I was assuming you were going for the model kind of look - so I played around with that in mind. Honestly, I've done hardly anything as it was pretty awesome to begin with.

Again, hope I haven't upset you by playing around with your photo. Please let me know if you don't want me to do that again.

Yo. Definately not upset at your edit, quite the opposite, I appreciate the time you've taken to think about it, and play with the shot. Which one is your edit though? I can't tell haha.

I was tryign to do the model/beauty look yeah. First real try... well 2nd attempt but first was over a year ago. I was struggling to find the right mix between soft airbrushed skin and REAL skin. I'll be trying different techniques over this set to see what methods i like and suit my style. any tips are appreciated ;)

Haha, sorry mate, mine is the one on the right.

It has a slightly different light over her whole face compared to the original.

Also, if you look into her eyes, I made them that little bit more sharper. Something about sharper eyes makes me feel like they are looking at me.

I also made her skin a LITTLE bit softer on her forehead and cheeks.

You can't see it? Haha poo :(

Nice shots everybody :) I've had a bit of down time to relax and unwind. And been training heaps for Tough mudder 2012 in melb. Heading down next week, will be there for a week.

Mainly evo's due to me heading down with the evo boys and they wanted to have a sneak preview. Full write up etc.. will be on the zillion blogs later in the week.

Just got back from a super duper hot wedding day in Fiji. I think it was almost 40 degrees. Was sweating like crazy. Cant believe the guys wore suits all day.

I don't think I have ever drank so much water in one day lol..

Just a random pic showing the coconut trees and the crystal water:

Lighting: 430exii off camera at 1/32th for fill on the face.

    • My hold point for future mods is that I want a OEM detachable hard top first, but, finding one is a pain, MX5 Mania are looking for one for me, but, as hens teeth are more common, finding one in Australia is proving problematic  I can get a OEM one from overseas, hell, you can still get new ones in 'Merica, but, shipping is a absolute killer and I cannot justify the cost, or the risk of it being damaged during transport As for the aftermarket hardtops, whilst they do the job of being a hard top, and are fine for a track car, they don't seal well (read: leak like a sieve in the rain), and you need a plastic/poly rear window, plus they are a bolt in option only and not made to be easily removed I liked how the hard top on my NB could be fitted, and removed, by myself, in less than 5 minutes I know it sounds bad, but I'm waiting for someone to write off a car with one so I can swoop in on their pain, it will go to a good home though, so my guilt of this is tempered
    • I’ve got one on mine and it’s fine,
    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
    • Ye, in terms of bolting up the "Conversion" from a GT to a GTT is effectively "Use GTT parts for everything" Except the subframe itself, because you won't want a HICAS/4WS subframe. Remember your ABS system will be different too, thanks to GT being the S15 3 sensor system, instead of the R34 4 sensor system for wheel speed. I do not know how people get this to work given R34 diffs do not have a provision for an ABS sensor (they are on the tone wheels of the axles). I assume***** people use S15 gear/R34NA forever when they realize this - Or they convert it to a rear diff/axles that are R33 style which I presume has the singular speed sensor on the diff itself, but then you have to wire it all in and...and... and...
