Travis, you're completely missing the point. The Autosport ones ONLY suit calipers that came on cars with 296mm rotors. The cheaper ones from eBay are designed to suit calipers from cars with 280mm rotors. If you look carefully at the two different adaptors you will see that they are completely different design. The cheaper ones just push the 280mm legged caliper out to the 324mm rotor position. It does that radially. The Autosport one pushes the 296mm legged caliper out to the 324mm rotor position also, but because there's not enough room to do this purely radially, the adaptor also has to move the caliper around circumfrentially a little to provide room for both sets of fasteners. THIS is the giveaway that tells you you're not looking at the same thing. If you apply the 280-324 adaptor to the 296mm caliper, it will push it out even further than the 324mm position. About 340mm in fact. It is important to remember that the Z32 uses the same sized caliper as the R32, not the R33.

Laser cutter?

Many of the cheaper R33 kits are 3 piece brackets and that in my eyes is pretty nasty compared to the one piece UAS ones

Like I mentioned earlier, if you laser cut the main plate, then what are effecively thick ass washers to match the thickness of your hub then those setups often cause vibrations in the pedal as tolerances are far easier to get wrong. Well thats been my experience at least with some R33s I have driven with that setup.

Its just a note of caution as people have been able to get the setup to work fine.....but is another reason why I like the UAS one piece machined ones

No idea, hence why I said if there was enough interest I will go out of my way to find out :)

Is 350Z brembo the same offset as skyline? I know the stock 350z discs we use on the Stageas are a different offset to the skyline discs.

The ones I have been running (for several years) have the spacers welded to the brackets, have seen the loose spacer types which would be easier to make (no welding) and easier to change offsets according to what disc you want to run.

I made my own 10 years ago out of some 8mm steel plate and welded on lugs before you could buy adapters. Scabbed the steel so they cost $0. Weight wasn't issue due to the small amount used. Only took half hour to make after a few hours making a mdf template. Also had less pad overhang than bought adapters you get today. GTST to GTR rotors. Recommend giving it a go! Mine survived many track and few drift days without ever loosening.

just spoke with GK-TECH (sponsor on here) as he just finished a set for Z32/R32/S14/S15 brakes to run 324mm rotors, and i've asked him to speak with his engineer to see if he can make a set to suit R33 GTST calipers with either 324 or 330mm rotors.

dori34 the 350z brembo type rotors you mentioned above, are they the same hat offset as 324mm gtr rotors?

The 350Z brembo and GTR Brembo use a different hat offset. From memory, the GTR Brembo is 54mm and the 350Z Brembo is 49mm.

350Z Brembo Rotors are almost always significantly cheaper than the GTR version.

and he did mention about one store selling the R33 GTST adapters for $350 is a bit rich and his cost will be well below this.

so take that as a hint it will be decently priced like all his gear :thumbsup:

$99 is a good price, but that particular adapter is fairly straightforward. It's literally a rectangular block with a step, two threaded holes, and two through holes :thumbsup:

The hat offset is the distance from the wheel mounting face of the disc rotor; to the front braking surface of the rotor.

This dimension dictates where the Caliper needs to sit in relation to the hub face; and therefore the thickness of the mounting spacer.

I was going to swap my 324mm package over to my 34 but I managed to get a GT-V so it already has the 310mm brakes, seems like a lot of effort for only 14mm increase in OD.

Anyone know of an 337-340mm rotor with a similar offset?

There are loads of options if you want 2pce. If you want single piece then a little more limited. About the cheapest I could find was a modified Mercedes ML rotor that was 340-343mm, but needed some machining to suit a Nissan. All up it was only going to be about $450 pair.

That is the only generic option you have. If you want to go 355mm then there are loads of opptions but the suitability of the Sumitomo caliper is questionable

Agreed, fitment under my rims would probably be an issue at that size too.

There is a bloke db power I think it is that sells an adaptor and rotor kit, bout 700 delivered to Aus. Mild steel adaptors and 345mm brembo rotors. Does one for 33 gtst, 32 and one for S15 etc.

Yep, he uses OE replacement rotors off W163 Merc ML, so if you find rotors locally, you can save money on delivery and order brackets only. Rotors will have to be modified - mounting redrilled to 5x114.3 and hub hole extended to 68mm.

    • Dang.....  that is some good info.  Thank you.    Yes, I plan to do some troubleshooting before I actually just throw parts at it.  I was doing some investigating on parts, just to get a head start, if wiring and stuff all looked good.
    • No worries, now that I'm closer to 70yo than not, this sort of stuff will one day be 'lost knowledge'... and even now, I wonder just how many folks out there have the Kent-Moore J34291 shim setting tool set to set end clearances rebuilding these...but right the now, there's less and less hard parts available, and you'll be headed to the wreckers to buy a donor box if it's worn out...(or pay a shop to do exactly the same thing). In a way, it's fortunate the 4-speed was so popular, because there's still heaps of consumables (banners kits, bearings & plates etc) around ~ these early 5-speeds weren't exactly that prevalent, so there's not quite as much about for them... but it's a race between perceived demand for these parts, versus how much they fetch at the shredder for recycling purposes...
