Greg Murphy's car is going to be repaired and it will be ready for next weekend's non-championship V8 Supercar races at the Formula 1 gp.

The damage was looked at and evaluated and the workload to change over one of the DVS cars and implement that for the Grand Prix, versus the workload to put my chassis back together and fit it,

meant that it's going to be a lot more work to bring another car in," said Murphy."We'll put the effort into fixing my chassis and having that ready. I'm really glad that's going to happen. It means a lot of work for

our guys and that's the downside, but we'll have the green machine back out on the Thursday at the Grand Prix."

Jonathon Webb's car will not be repaired in time for the Formula 1 gp, The team has turned to Paul Morris Motorsport and will borrow the Sargent Security -branded Holden form them.

"We have exhausted every avenue in order to repair Jonathan's race car in time for the Melbourne Grand Prix," says Team Manager Bruce Jenkins."Unfortunately the entire back end requires extensive

repair work that is unachievable in this tight time frame. We have no option but to loan a vehicle or risk major financial penalties from V8 Supercars."

"We are grateful to Paul Morris Motorsport for assisting at such short notice," says Jenkins. "It's not ideal. There is still a lot of work to be done to get it ready for Jonathon to compete with.

"We secured the vehicle late yesterday. Jonathon has never driven it, nor does he know the car's history. We will do everything we possibly can to perform and will go to Melbourne as a professional unit."

TODAY V8 Supercar teams hit the Albert Park track for the first race of the MSS Security V8 Supercars Challenge, but first they need to adapt to a new Qualifying Race format.

The cars will line up in the order that they qualified yesterday and take part in a Qualifying Race. Results won’t count for points for the overall weekend result, but will feature a

“drop zone” where the last three cars on the track at the end of each lap from Lap 3 to 8 will be eliminated from the race, leaving the top 10 to race for victory.

KELLY Racing driver Rick Kelly and team chairman John Crennan are heading to the United States following last weekend’s Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains.The duo will be at the New York Auto Show on Thursday morning (Australian time) along with representatives from Nissan Australia to unveil a new model – the Altima - which is strongly linked with being the

car the company will use when it enters the V8 Supercars Championship next year.

Nissan USA have posted five video clips on YouTube giving a brief insight into the new model Altima ahead of its unveiling.

how good was whincup's spin in sunday's race? spun, kept the boot in, looped it round then drove off like a BAWS. last time i saw someone do that was (from memory) glen seaton at adelaide. got tagged coming onto the back straight, did a full 360 and kept on driving. was probably still doing 60kmh when he was spinning

watched it first hand, i gave him a round of applause lol, and to come back and win with ease. good stuff, shame to see lowndes off he was providing some good entertainment. top day sunday, good track to spectate at since you can see the whole thing from just about anywhere. there was some quick datsuns in the support races too ;-)

Was just about to compare channel 7's v8 coverage to onehd when the coverage died with 2 laps to go, but they have just replayed the last 2 laps. So I'm happy now, lol.

Great drive by whincup as usual to get so close at the end. he really is mr consistent.

THE V8 Supercars Championship will return to Eastern Creek International Raceway in Sydney this year.

The newly refurbished circuit will now fill the August 24-26 date that was to have been the Winton weekend, while the rural Victorian circuit will now move to hosting the penultimate event of the championship on November 16-18.

The Winton event takes the place of the previous ‘to be announced’ calendar slot and will fall exactly two weeks after the Yas V8 400 in Abu Dhabi and two weeks before the season-finale Sydney Telstra 500.

“We believe Australia’s largest city can have motorsport nirvana with a thrilling circuit race at a great permanent venue followed by all the street circuit bells and whistles of the Sydney Telstra 500,” V8 Supercar CEO David Malone says.

“We compete three times in Victoria and three times in Queensland each year so our view is we can sustain three New South Wales events, certainly for this year, based on their different market appeal, location, timing and format."

The Australian Racing Drivers Club will promote the Eastern Creek V8 Supercar event, which falls the weekend before the ultra-successful Muscle Car Masters and makes for strong back-to-back weekends of motorsport.

Glenn Matthews, CEO of the ARDC, managers of Eastern Creek International Raceway, said that since the venue's $11-million refurbishment, Sydney’s motorsport fans had been loud and constant in their call for V8 Supercars to return.

"Eastern Creek is the only permanent race circuit in Sydney and is a perfect complement to the street circuit event held at Olympic Park in December," Matthews said.

“Having the V8 boys back is ideal to re-launch the new Eastern Creek, with exhilarating new circuit layouts, refurbished pit lane and upgraded spectator facilities almost complete, combined with September marking the 60th Anniversary of the ARDC.

“Over the coming months we will also be making further important announcements regarding Eastern Creek that I am sure will be well received."

The V8 Supercars Championship has not raced at Eastern Creek since 2008, when Will Davison took his maiden victory for Jim Beam Racing.

Since then the venue has regularly been used by V8 Supercar teams for corporate ride days and last year it hosted the pre-season Official Test and Launch Day.

The Australian Touring Car Championship/V8 Supercars Championship has a long history at Eastern Creek, first competing there in 1992.

A total of 17 ATCC/V8SC events have been held at Eastern Creek in that time with the series grand finale hosted by the venue in 2003 and 2004 – both years where two events were held at the circuit in the same season.

Eastern Creek was the site of the Holden Racing Team’s first ATCC/V8SC win in 1994 with the late Peter Brock and the venue in 2007 where Mark Skaife broke Brock’s long-time ATCC/V8SC event wins record.

The news means that the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship will be contested over 15 events and 29 individual races.

    • I'm firmly on the "zero compliance is good compliance" for FUCAs. I'd be looking to solid metal joints even if the primary reason for having them is because they facilitate the twist in the arm. I have never been more happy with the way the front suspension behaves than I have since I got rid of the FUCA bushes. Even the thin little (short lived) poly bushes in the Whiteline adjustables have too much compliance for my liking. It probably won't be long before I have sphericals nearly everywhere, probably including both top and bottom arms in the rear, and I'll start complaining about the increased costs for dental work. But I will be enjoying the driving more, I'm sure.
    • Plus, you'll get great experience in bedding in pads!
    • I have offset Nismo brackets so the fact the gktechs can pivot is less important to me. I have 170mm JIC arms with bushings - but they provide no adjustment and I'm not sure whiteline eccentric bushings will fit them (I don't want to ruin the bushings currently in them to find out). Ideally I want something with bushings + adjustment; hence why I'd like to find a pair of these. Unfortunately they aren't easy to find.
    • @Vee37 How much do you really care about finding these pads again? If your pads are quiet, work well and produce minimal dust, really isn't that enough? If you are set on finding the exact pads again, I suppose I'd do something like this -  Visit your local Jax, find out what brand of pads they carry. If the Jax workshop you previously went to had the pads on the shelf, then you can almost guarantee it will be of said brand.   I'm guessing you don't have the receipt for the previous work and pads. Can you visit a Jax workshop and see if they can look up your previous job to see what pads were fitted?  Still no luck? Put your stalker hat on, find the staff that used to work at the Jax store and ask them. Talk to local workshops, try to find out where the mechanics went to. Talk to Jax workshops, maybe they relocated to another workshop. When it comes to mechanics, its a small world. You'd be surprised how easy it is to track someone down. If these ideas don't work, shit will start getting crazy very quickly.... You could find out every brand and model of pad that fits that car... and try them individually ticking each off the list if it wasn't the one you were looking for.... If you go down this path your going to want to learn how to swap pads yourself, it is very easy, takes minimal tools and space. If you have room to park the car you have room to swap the pads. Plus you have the advantage of making sure all the brake hardware goes back in so they won't squeal!
