Hello there

Just brought an Australian 09 white premium GTR from north side Nissan. Done over 1000 km's and so far its been amazing. I'm a big Ferrari nut and was going to get a 360 but after going on one of those drive days in Sydney i found the GTR to be the better car.

It's had a Cobb tune and a titanium exhaust added by the previous owner. The warranty is going to expire in a few months and just wondering if any of you guys looked at getting it extended? Nissan told me they are working with Allianz to have an option to buy an extended warranty? As other warranty's from other company's only cover $2000 of the cost of the drivetrain and engine.

As far as the Ferrari and GTR goes, I am extremely fortunate in that I have access to drive the most desirable supercars around

In consecutive weekends, I drove the 458 Italia, Lambo Gallardo 560 LP4 and the AMG SL65.

Then I had the 35GTR for 3 days

I dont even know why those $500,000+ cars even exist to be honest

I am not new to performance cars, having owned an R32 GTR, an R33GTR (470rwkw) and an R34GTR, as well as an S15 and Evo7

The 35 is something I didnt know could be built

Congrats on your purchase mate

Good stuff mate. I am also interested in the extended warranty especially as the US boys get up to 5 years - a few more years would be good protection for those of us with totally stock cars, seeing as the Tranny seems to be the most expensive weakest link, even on stockies.

If Nissan still warrantee yours with the Cobb, then its obviously not been launched with VDC off. Nissan are generally ok with mods IMO, but the moment you do anything nasty in it, then gone.

I would recommend you get Nissan's approval in writing too if you can, just in case

Yea true but my warranty runs out in a few months.. touch wood nothing happens. But yea a lot of people are after the extended warranty and i heard from Nissan that it would cost $5000 for another 3 years. Just have to wait and see. Man the guy who owned the car before me has the worst music in that music box thing. WTF How do i delete that shit.

Great to see another one in Perth I too have just bought one, only mine came from NSW 2009, red when we had it it had 9077 on the clock drove it from Sydney over the last 6 days, now she says just over 13,000 awesome car to drive across the Nullabour.

just curious how was fuel use sitting at a constant 110 ish across the nullabour. is the suspension bearable for a trip of that distance.

Sorry to hijack thread.

Just turned the suspension to (comfort mode) it defaults to sport every time you turn the engine off.

Fuel consumption was around the 10litres to 100kms. Didnt really take much notice, was more interested in where the servos were with 98 octane. The roads were good all the way from Sydney but there is a lot of road noise on the nullabour and roads from Kalgoorlie.

On a side note the roads over the east were just shocking, pot holes everwhere, it was constantly raining and that was abit un-nerving with the semi slick tyres.

I'm not sure which Nissan dealership you're going to, but I've had several first hand experiences with Nissan warranty's on 35's and they have been exceptional. You have to remember that the Japanese by nature are a very proud lot, and with this car they have alot to be proud of. There is no chance that they will damage their honour by disrespecting the number one most important part of everything GTR. That of course is the customer, if you've had the privilege of meeting the man himself, you will understand exactly how important it is to Nissan.

The official word that we've been given at track days is "with VDC on or in R mode there is no question all is covered." WIth VDC off, however (remember i's prescribed use in the owners manual.) If you suffer a mechanical breakage at the same time as VDC is off and it is clear that the breakage is due to the missuse or abuse (remember VDC off is only for getting the car out of snow or mud etc) that particular part of the vehicle may not be covered on that occassion.

One obvious exception is when a car is used in commercial competition, this is not covered. (Unless we are in Japan and simply lease your 35 from Nismo - track prepped for every meet - fixed price)

With mods, be cautious as most modifications will change the balance of the car and will result in slower lap times. (Unless thats what you seek). Obviously Nissan don't offer warranty for parts not supplied by them, however most of the manufacturers offer warranty with what they sell so really, what have you got to lose.

Semi slicks? What tyres are you running? The factory one's shouldn't be giving you any concern in the wet, they stick good!

Yeah we must be going to different Nissan dealerships.

    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
    • To be fair - you see the same thing for every clutch. There's always someone making an installation error.
