Hey guys, just finished my r31 rb20det conversion. 90% complete just needs the rear bar replaced and the bonnet dropped down bout 2cm. besides that its all done. finished the fmic yesterday took 14 hours to mount and pipe it. good thing bout it all, the whole job fmic conversion and all was done in the back yard, so here some pics, tell me what you think, honesty appreciated

The Front mount and all piping came from The Intercooler Guy, and its bloody good, its a r32 fmic kit and it fit straight onto my r31 with almost no mods at all, so if there is any r31 guys out there, check him out hes been the best bloke by far for this stuff. by the time the air gets thru the cooler its bloody cold. made my car run sweet

Nice R31.  :aroused:

Does it feel alot different to the RB30E?

yeah feels sooooo good compared to the rb30, not as much lower end but from 3 grand up about 30 times the fun hehe, couldnt lay a 10m long black line on the road starting at 50kmhr with the rb30

No the kit wasnt custom made, just order the r32 kit it fits sweeeeet!!!

like no noticeble lag on this cooler either AND not a single bit of pressure drop, holds 11psi perfect the whole rev range

    • I thought about ditching it but I was worried my bonnet would sound like a 90's Swift GTi sub-filled boot.
    • Have you found that you have to tighten your alternator belt once in a while? Mine has started to squeal again after the mechanic tightened it roughly a year ago and the engine starts up slow if I don't start it every day (think the starter motor is going out). It used to be if I don't drive it once a week I'd get a quick squeal on the belt but now it's every day or every other day. I might make a post of the start up sound.
    • I spent the entire of the long weekend going through my garage and I'm now, after 3.5yrs in this house, able to fit a car in. The garage is quite long and the back half has a high enough ceiling for a 2 post lift but it's going to just take too much space and I don't think I'd be able to get around the car if it was in the air. So, in comes the quick lift. It looks perfect. High enough to do most things, I reckon even getting a gearbox out would be doable.  Does anybody here have one? They're fairly cheap (~$3k) considering...  https://www.dtmtrading.com.au/product/quick-lift-portable-vehicle-hoist-3500-kg-worksafe-approved/ I'm also a bit of a non risk taker so I'd probably still use stands when under!
    • Well now we all see it! I did the same. Then cut it out. Then melted half of it. Then discarded it entirely. So... you're in good company.
    • I just replaced the god awful, sagging, crunchy bonnet insulation. It's something nobody but I see but it's been at me for a while.
