Get underneath and twist the tie rods/rack ends; I bet there's a clunk. I just had an alignment on mine, and this has disturbed the inner rack ends; which have developed a knock.

They appear to be the same as V35 and 350z rack ends from my search of common part numbers. Can anyone confirm?

V35/350Z ball joints are the same. I've just had mine fitted and the car feels amazing.

eBay is the place to get them. Nissan will only sell the entire setup, at $800/side.

I also checked Ebay but with no luck finding them today

You need to get a computer. It'll make things much easier compared to trying to use your phone. Not trying to be an asshole, just trying to help!

Pretty sure this is where I got mine from, but with the exchange rate they're cheaper now: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-FRONT-LOWER-BALL-JOINT-NISSAN-350Z-03-09-/250697175942?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a5eb75386#ht_863wt_891

How long did they take to arrive? I'm looking at getting my rack ends through him.

is there a front and rear set of these?

cos I can occasionally hear clunking from the rear...

Let me know if you locate the clunking at the rear. Mine started making a clunking noise a month or so ago & unable to work out what it is. Seems totally random, not just turning a particular direction, accelerating, decelerating, bumpy or smooth road - can't get a handle on it. Audible from outside too.

Less than a week. Pretty happy all round with them - very quick (coming from Taiwan) and very cheap).

Isn't the rear clunking normally the sway bar links/mounts?

That's pretty good then. Looks like I'm placing an order.whistling.gif

Sway Bar mounts & links are normally fairly repeatable; they either do, or they don't. They also load & unload fairly regularly, so they tend to be fairly vocal.

There is a ball joint in the upper "A" arm in the rear, the rest is bushes. Shouldn't be too hard to apply some leverage to the arm to check for noise.

Mine is exactly the same...random...

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
