^some of the older GQ's did come out with a RB30, hard to find as they were not popular at the time. problem is they are 2.5 ton plus so need to work and rev the rb30 hard to make it work, better of with a big turbo diesel and go from there, massive torque low revs

I've seen some people put RB25DET, RB25/30DET witha massive snail attached - no issues with a "lack" of torque.

Rather amusing watching watching all 4 mud tires turning into smoke.

^^ wise move. if you find another 2.8 or 3L you will be looking at about 6K for the 4.2 change over gearbox and engine if you want to go that way. which is probably cheaper than trying to find a good 4.2 staight away. look for a good body rather than engine

Had a 4.2 on LPG, now have a 4.5, I could not recommend one highly enough!! Compare some prices, compare what you get for the $$s, I got a 98 Gu st, with 240k lift kit, steel bar, driving lights, electric brakes snorkel etc for $13500. Gas is pretty pricey in bathurst, and off $85 I get 500k going back and forward to work. Too many people get caught up thinking that the td is the only one to buy, and pay twice the price of an LPG powered one. Use 1/4 of what you saved chucking a 3071 on it, and it will blow a td away

That's interesting v8tzr. Could you give me a heads up about an SD33 non turbo. I bought my Dad's old 85 MQ Patrol off him about four years ago - he had it since new. It has now clocked 270,000 on the clock and everything is stock and original - anything I need to look out for etc?
