Passenger side fender... it's a VERY tight fit with the factory bar - and crap airflow.

Justinfox - mine reached about 130 at sandown after 4 hot laps :P have you cut out air flow-through holes in the plastic guard in the wheel well? remember that the oil cooler will only cool if air actually passes through it...

there must be a better way...

oh and will take piccy tonight :)

Mines mounted vertically just behind the grill near the aircon receiver/dryer. But I've noticed that whoever installed it has pushed the power steering cooler tube forward slightly and a bracket has been rubbing on the back of one of the intercooler tubes and may have pierced it :P I/m going to have to pull the IC out to check out the damage.

What about this ARC oil cooler?

In my mind that's the ultimate 32GTR oil cooler setup. In front of the rad is no good imo because you are 1. getting air already heated by the intercooler and 2. are heating air that is now going to pass through the rad. In the brake ducts is ok, except that you are of course taking away cool air from one of the brakes, and the coolers can get damaged down there. The ARC one is very nice and has none of these problems, plus they look good (I think so anyway) the only down side is they are damn expensive. Still when I go to Japan in January if I see one at the right price I may pick it up (and my 32 'R already has a trust oil cooler fitted)...

Get one Justin, you know you want it!!

Hi Justin, suggestions follow;

1. Loose the thermostat, they are not necessary in Australia, it never gets cold enough.

2. I never mount oil coolers in front of the radiator, the oil cooler doesn't work as well because the radiator is behind it distrurbing the airflow exit. The radiator doesn't work properly either because it is getting hot air from the oil cooler plus disturbed airflow.

3. I always mount the oil cooler in the RHS vent as the LHS vent has the ambient air intake for the engine.

4. I always use aluminium ducting ro make sure that ALL of the air that comes in though the vent goes though the oil cooler. If you just hang the oil cooler out there, the air will go around it because that is the easiest path.

5. I never run oil temperature much over 105 degrees celsius

6. If the water temp is normal, changing the radiator WILL NOT lower the oil temperature. If the water temp is high it will, but only very slightly.

7. When you change from oil cooled turbos (plain bearing) to water cooled turbos (ball bearing) you will notice a drop in the oil temperature, but no real increase in the water temp.

Hope that helps:cheers:

A friend of mine had a GREX kit in his 32GTR and the kit mounted the cooler on the passenger side under the guard. I used a R32 GTST kit in my Cefiro, however I dont trust myself to not smash it being under the guard, so I installed it infront of the radiator. After reading SK's advice I may move again... or atleast experiment once my Oil Temp guage is in. Here is a pic - http://www.sido-takushi.com/events/collie/...04/DSC08725.jpg

PS dont laugh at me - I was angry cause I just looped it :P

Richard, I may get it. It's $2k! But worth it if I can stay out on track for longer.

SK: You are such an awesome help on these forums. I have printed out your post and will take it to my mechanic tomorrow morning (I am already booked in). I just bought some defi guages for the inside of my car so I will be getting accurate readings now ($850 for the damn guages!!! DAMN!!!) so before I buy this ARC oil cooler I will try to relocate my one and see if that does any difference then report back to these forums after my next track day either motoconcepts at the end of this month or the 8th December where I am booked in for a Burrows day.

Justin - where are you locating said gauges? I don't want to start hacking into my dash but want some additional gauges :D

I got mine in driver side slot of 400r front bar and at sandown oil temps stayed around 90 ;)
