Doesnt matter, maybe in vic its different but. In NSW, my engineer said its tested shut, driven shut, there is nothing they can say. Even if they know its a varex. He said there is no difference in me testing it with that or having a quiet pipe then swapping it at home. Except how fast it can be done. He instructed me when harassed about it to take it to the top as he told others who succeeded.

Thats NSW laws though they smash you's alot harder there.

Here is the real info: http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/viewtop/inforce/subordleg+40+2008+cd+0+N/?autoquery=(Content%3D((%22regulation%202008%22)))%20AND%20((Type%3D%22act%22%20AND%20Repealed%3D%22N%22)%20OR%20(Type%3D%22subordleg%22%20AND%20Repealed%3D%22N%22))&dq=Document%20Types%3D%22Acts,%20Regs%22,%20Exact%20Phrase%3D%22regulation%202008%22,%20Search%20In%3D%22Text%22&fullquery=(((%22regulation%202008%22)))

"(3) A person is not guilty of an offence under subclause (1) (d) if the temporary noise reduction device:

(a) was fitted by the vehicle manufacturer, or is an equivalent replacement for any such device fitted by the vehicle manufacturer, or"

Does that mean varex is an equivalent replacement dual mode muffler?

it has to be the same which to start with means it would have to be 2.5".
