Long story short I have had heaps of problems with my 34 stalling at low revs and being very hard to hot start: full dets here. I replaced the CAS yesterday and the one I pulled out seemed to be well and truly shagged. There was a lot of rust particles in and around the shaft, and the key would not spin freely; when you shake it it sounded like there was something loose inside.

Anyhow, the car now seems to be driving fine again. I really hope this was the root of the problem and I know a faulty CAS will cause hot start issues but can it cause the car to stall??

can it cause the car to stall??

Yes.

I had this same problem on one of my Bluebirds.

Would happen at approx the same distance from home / same intersection.

It would cut in and out while driving and sometimes just stall.

Was kinda freaky and I didn't like driving it but had no choice.

It would take a few tries to start, sometimes a few minutes.

New CAS = fixed.

Exactlky the same issue with my R33. Drove fine cold but when it was nice and warm, approx same place and same time frame (depending if i was in a hurry or not LOL) the car would start stalling. New CAS, no problems
