Hey guys and gals!

SUTTON RD BABY!!! Anyone who has been here before will tell you, it's a wild little track. That's right, track, this is no skidpan. Here's an incar video from the last time we ran it. Also note, we haven't been there in FOUR YEARS so don't be a stooge and think "I'll wait for the next one" - there may not be another one for years!

Video link:

You all know the drill, this thread means entries for Texi, May 19th, are now open smile.gif

Event: SAUNSW Texikhana, "The Original" proudly supported by Unigroup Engineering

Location: Sutton Road Driver Training Centre

Location map: Click HERE biggrin.gif

Date: 19th May 2012

What is it: Timed single lap sprints (practice lap given then timed laps all day)

Lunch: BBQ and cans of soft drink available on site

Entry cost SAUNSW members: ONLY $110!

Entry cost Non SAUNSW members: ONLY $135! (join the club, pays for itself)

Spectators: Free to watch, BBQ will be $3 snag sandwich and $1.50 cans (selection of flavours available)

Passengers: Not allowed on track due to insurance rules

Courses: Same as the above video however the cones will be slightly different. It's essentially a private version of National Park Sutherland or Old Pacific Highway up North.....no police, no oncoming traffic...

Results: Electronic timing being used, results will be on Natsoft after each group has their run

Accommodation: Separate thread will be up for that very soon. We will be staying in cabins at a really nice caravan park with a pub next door

Those of you that have been to one of these before will agree, this is the best money you can spend as far as driving time for an event. The event will be run after run until 530pm (or when the sun goes down), and considering most runs are under 2 minutes AND that we're kicking off at 9am, that's a lot of runs wink.gif

This is a safe event where you only go as hard as you want to, there's no pressure, one car on a course at a time.

With that said, there's usually some friendly competition between mates which is great to watch smile.gif

This is a GRIP day, the venue does NOT allow drifting, so if you want to drift this place - don't enter this event

Timing for the day;

Scruitineering/sign on starts 730am

Scruitineering/sign on ends 845am (Don't show up at 825am, come with plenty of time to spare. We start on time and you will be missing runs if you come late, it's only fair to those who show up on time)

Drivers brief 850am (mandatory attendance all drivers)

Runs start 915am

Lunch approx 1230pm depending on how the day is going (One hour, cars will continue to run however there may be delays as we send food and drinks out to the volunteers)

Runs stop 515pm

Gates close 530pm

Entrants please note:

-All entered cars must arrive in time for and pass scruitineering, no exceptions.

-All drivers must be licensed (AASA or CAMS) and show valid licence and expiry date at sign on.

-All cars must have an insurance approved fire extinguisher secured within drivers reach.

-Sidepipes are not allowed. Screamers/external gates venting to atmosphere are also not allowed to be entered. No exceptions (this is not my choice, I ♥ gate)

-Entries are open now, entries close 5pm 16th May to allow time for officials to organise paperwork.

-Supp regs and Entry Form are attached. Entry forms without payment will be rejected.

-Yes you can join SAUNSW on the day (allow an extra 5mins at sign on)

-Yes you can organise an AASA or CAMS licence on the day (allow extra 10mins at sign on)

-There is no Eftpos/Credit Card machine on site, so bring cash and we will have change there for you. If you can bring close to the right amount that's helpful.

Last time the slowest run was 1 min 58 seconds (quickest 1.32). As soon as the car on course crosses the finish line there will already be another ready to start (it's a loop, so no need to wait for the car beforehand to return) - so I cant say how many runs exactly. It would be silly to anyway as it's just a guess.

I can say this; There's no lunch break, runs will be continual all day, anyone causing a delay in the start line (eg not ready to go) will have the car behind them put infront of them so there is no delays.

You know how I run things like this Ben, there's absolutely no way to have more runs - the day is designed to maximise driving time for all entrants

If it helps, at the last one we expected 6 runs for the day but it ended up being more like 13 from memory by the end of the day. It also depends on entrant numbers, how many cones get knocked down, planetary alignment haha

whats the max volume of exhaust at "x" meters?

just got a 4inch put on, sounds crap and loud....

but i want in dammit!

As long as it has a muffler it should be fine. It's screamer pipes and exhausts without any mufflers that are the drama

    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
