I couldnt agree more....

an alarm would be first on my list.

Yeah i had a security system with alarm and internal backup battery and 2 point immobilisation... (yes the system was acticated; the alarm was ripped out and left on the rear seat!) ... but that didn't stop 'em...

Hey Guys,

I will throw my 2 cents in as well.

This one is for those who don't have 1800 to 2500 to spend on a schwing system.

I have had my skyline for a bout 3 months now.

recycled some gear out of my old car, no point throwing away shit that still works good.

Heres what I ahve and how I have done it.

A couple of years ago I got a cheap Akai head unit ($180 bucks ) that has a left and right RCA plug outputs. Now you may be saying "AKAI, what drugs is this guy on." But let me tell ya I have had comments from people in my car saying how do you get such great clarity of sound out this cheap ass Head unit. Don't know myself it just sounds good. Not particularly powerfull probably either.

I have also bought a cheap ass Amp from Supa cheap for $160 bucks. 4 channel * 200 watts that is bridgeable. Can't remember the brand but they still havem.

Spent $60 bucks on a amp and speaker wiring kit.

I shopped around for my Kenwood 6*9's (300 watts 3 ways) ($180 bucks). I chose Kenwood cause they are a bit Bassier than other speakers, but maintain clarity.

The sub I only have 1 10" sony explode sub (700 watts) 90 bucks. and my front door speakers a re alpine Type s $140.(200 watts).

When i got my alarm put in I had the guys make me up a new parcel tray for my 6*9's, they mounted them longways angled in so they did not have to cut the parcel tray (structural), they did this for $130 bucks installed and carpeted, looks schmick.

I did all the rest of ther install. The forum helped out with R33 wiring for stereo.

I have the 6" alpines wired directly to the head unit throught the high power option. The sub is bridged through channels 1 and 2 on the amp with the 6*9's through 3 and 4 respectively.

Take your time wiring as this will pay off.

So all up over 3 years I ahve spent $900 to $950. including a custome parcel tray!

I ahve had fun putting it in and the satisfaction that comes along with that.

Now to performance, I am not gonna win any audio comps. but I can guarntee you that my wife can here me coming up the street ages away.

And also for fairly cheap I can get another amp the same and another sub and be doof doof around all over the shop.

Hope I didn't bore ya too much.

Cheers

J-Flash :)
