Hey,

I've bought a R31 GXE and would like to know which aftermarket Air Pod filter, Exhaust, Extractors and Muffler I should get for it.

I'd like to know what brands to watch out for (as in dodgy) and what brands to try and get for best performance.

I live in Victoria so I'd like to know which shops/factories to get these from too.

Cheers guys!

Yeah i've read through that before. I know what i want tog et, i was looking more for what brands i should get.

Especially in suspension because i don't want to end up with un-RWC low and what-not.

I was thinking of going 2.25" with Dual Tip.

But not sure how to go about it.

Going to scrap getting a pod filter and just get a High Flow panel.

Will replace the tires (not sure which brand tires to get)

Would like to know what extractor's to get, i've been recommended to get Magnaflow Tip/Muffler.

Also which springs should i get (as in how low) to be low but RWC still (for front and rear).

Should i replace anything else in Suspension/Brake setup?

This is on a budget by the way.

Sorry mate, i'm a bit of a noob.

But how much will all that cost me?

I would more than likely have to get a mechanic to do it for me (my dad used to be one but he might not know everything).

How low would the Coil Over setup bring the car down?

Or would i need to buy new springs too with that

Oh and which R33 rotors and pads, on garage 7 the Adapter Kit says it needs drilling with any non GTS brakes, so do i just go with GTS ones?

Where would i find some, besides ebay etc.. I want this done sorta proffesionally yet cheap.

Angry's struts look promising, yet somewhat confusing on what i'd need to do to install them.

Also what parts would i need for Exhasust system?

I was thinking Hurricane Extractors (or some pre-owned Lukey ones), with 2.25" piping and High Flow Cat (or just normal) and Magnaflow Muffler and a dual tip

I'd just like those opinions, i've searched everywhere and haven't found much that's helping, especially since i don't know all the lingo for car parts etc..

It doesn't matter anyway. I know what i want now, you can lock the thread if you feel.

just turbo it n put a dowse pipe on 3 inch exhaust injectors nistune fuel pump cooler and screamer dont worry bout this non turbo boring shit its all money wasted cos u get a shit noise and no power my mate has a 31 with the same boring shit u wanna do and its slow another one of my mates turbo'd his 31 with the above mods n it beats my evo 8 so just turbo it or buy something good

Ok only because im a nice guy ill go through it with you.

Coilovers can be made to what ever height you like as they are adjustable. They also have the options on damper and camber adjustment apart from the rears witch are height and damper. If you went Angry's coilovers you will have to take the coilovers and your old struts into a workshop and have the "base, feet" what ever you want to call them welded onto the coilover.

If you wanted bigger brakes you could go down a few paths the path i chose was R33 turbo as they are ALOT bigger than the shit 31 brakes and are reasonably price second hand, then you would need bigger rotors to suit witch would be R33 GTST rotors. (I can help with standard or slotted rotors as i work for Nissan) Because these rotors will be 5 stud you will have to get them re drilled to 4 stud to suit unless you done a stud conversion.

Now to get these rotors and brakes to work with Angry's coilovers you will need the G7 hub adaptors witch i am running too, they are by far the easiest and cheaper way of getting bigger brakes in a 31.

Of course you don't have to go R33 GTST brakes but that's upto you pretty much anything with a floating hub.

You will need to read this before installing the brakes:

http://wiki.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?title=Brake_Upgrades_Miscellaneous

Now because your brakes will be bigger the next question will you current rims fit? Im smaller than eg R33 GTST rims 15inch? Then your 31 depending what width and offset will need 15inch or bigger.

Get some new wheel bearings and repack the bearings whilst your at it so it's all fresh.

If you wanted to go down the S13 front end conversation:

http://wiki.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?title=S13_Suspension_Conversion

Alot more money involved as you require more parts to get pretty much the same result. If you went the s13 way you wouldn't need the G7 adaptors as the s13 hubs will fit the R33/R32/S14 etc rotors and caliper's will bolt up.

Not overly hard if you are mechanically minded. I done a full coilover and r33 brake upgrade on my coupe and it has been fine. Just follow the links and you shouldn't have any issues.

Coilovers aren't legal unless you get them signed off by an engineer. Varies from state to state.

I think i covered everything..

Yeah i've been over at the R31club forums and they pretty much said to get pedders reds or those U-welds.

So i got them covered, i aslo went over that R33 brake conversion and would get that covered, the rims i'm planning on getting would be 115x7 with -4 offset i believe.

I'd just get the GTS R33 brakes as getting the slotted and drilled just seems like a hassle, as i'm already paying for adapter kits etc..

and i'm not sure a 5-stud conversion is RWC for a R31, but i'll sus it out.

thanks mate!

P.S - It appears the GTS25 Calipers fit inn 15" wheels.

good thinking re brakes and stuff, just keep in mind that all the mods you want to do with the motor wont make much difference to power altho you might sound you are going faster! the

30E is a bit of a lame duck when compared to late model twin cam/turbo motors

when it comes to power/bang for buck

  • 1 month later...

Well things have changed since those months ago.

I am buying some new 16x7 +20 Watanabe's, and getting Angry's Emotion Coilover's (when i get money and will be installed by a suspension workshop).

Won't bother with a brake upgrade as the car's brake system is adequete for how i use it.

Now to save money like there's no tomorrow!

If you are looking at going faster then you are FAR better off turfing the 31 and getting a 32/33 or 34 as they are better platforms for mods . . . . they have good brakes / IRS / turbo motors and heaps more aftermarket support than the 31 plus 31s look like pintaras
