Hi Fellas.

Does anyone know anything about this gts4? ex-rego plate 543lza and use to have tri-spokes on all fours. He's not letting onto much so i guess there's something fischy about it. Has been repaired and the pic says it all. looks like front right guard had been changed and the rear quarter panel pillar section had been repaired but now big cracks are coming up. apparently he doesn't know what needs to be fixed on it execpt the cv boot, lol. i'm pretty sure he know more but not saying anything. The condition of the vehicle isn't nowhere near as clean as the photos he posted. It has a big SAU sticker on the rear quarter window so i thought i'd check with you guys to find out what he's hiding. Honesty goes along way and now i'm iffy on buying it. I hope it ain't a write-off or unregistable? PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

EX-REGO:543LZA

any info will be greatly appreciated.

i take it you are interested in buying it? you havn't mentioned.

just do what you would do in any situation involving buying a car. if your not too car savy, ask to take it to a mechanic to look over it. if he says no, WALK AWAY.

if he is selling it unroadworthy, than thats what it is.. UNROADWORTHY.

your post doesnt really give much away either. do you want to buy it, do you just want to know about it? what are YOUR intentions?

EDIT- ive re-read your post. you have said NOTHING GOOD about this car at all. dont go near it with a 10ft pole!!

Thanks for the advice. I am intending on buying it but i will have another chat with him to see what info he has. It's was rego'd till last november and recons that he's intention was to turn it into a track car. This is his advert.

Check it out.

1989 R32 GTS4 Manual. I wanted to turn this car into a track only car when it's rego expired. But the missus and I just can't afford that at the moment, and we don't have the space to keep it until we do. So as much as I hate to get rid of it (it was my first Skyline), it has to go.

~96,600ish on odometer but cluster has been changed. When I bought the car it had ~98,000 on it with a jumpy speedo. The cluster was changed for one as close to the same number as I could get at the time (~89,400). So the car itself is actually sitting on ~106,000

Pretty much stock except for:

K&K Coilovers front and rear (height and rebound adjustable). Currently lowered to 100mm lowest point on car (exhaust)

Pod Filter

Manual Boost Controller

3" cat-back exhaust

Mongoose immobiliser

Guard lips have been rolled on all corners (I kept the black plastic linings from the fronts though if the buyer wants them for whatever reason)

Currently sitting on 18" x 8.5" wheels with near new (95% tread) HiFly 801 tyres. Slight rash on the two left wheels, but nothing a bit of flat black paint won't cure. The wheels cost me $1500 and the tyres were $100ea If the buyer doesn't want these they can bring their own wheels and take $1,000 off the price of the car.

100,000km service done 4,500kms ago. New water pump, timing belt, tensioner, pulley and cam seals. As well as engine oil, filter and spark plugs being changed. Coolant and brake fluid changed at same time.

New pod filter 5,000kms ago.

New coil packs December 2010.

New front brake pads and rotors about 5 months ago. Rears still at 10mm.

Paint is weather worn and faded unfortunately as those red cars like to do :(

All boot trims, interior trims, panels etc are all there except the LHF air vent.

Front auto spoiler still works.

Comes with a spare wheel speed sensor so you can run it in 4WD or permanently in 2WD if you wish (currently has the 2WD sensor installed).

Rego runs out on 18/11 so selling unregistered. I haven't had a major look over the car, so I'm not 100% sure on what it needs for it's roadworthy. I know the CV boots are a definite thing to take car of, but apart from that I'm not sure.

oh and he doesn't mention anything about the repair in his advert. I've seen the car but will be back to go through it more carefully. Can you notice the paint difference in the first pic? I only noticed it after i personally viewed the car.

:thumbsup:Well I'm the proud owner of that car now! Took possession on saturday and found water in the brake line and air too. Flushed the right side and got the braking back. gotta flush all 4 to check it out. needs front pipe and all boots on cv and steering changed. Mechanic will tell me tomorrow. Driveline Services Australia are gonna do the boots $300 was the quote.

John seem like a totally different bloke on saturday, he was alot more helpful and gave me an awsome deal. :thanks: John. I'll do the body soon as my piggy bank gets abit fatter. The time being is to get it on the road again. oh and thanks boy for the info. It was very helpfull.

    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
    • The only high-power RB I've personally seen go pop after running for all of an hour on a dyno was built by B2R, while being remotely tuned by B2R. The only wastegates I've ever had leak like a sieve, return, still leak, return and get shipped back the wrong ones were from Turbosmart. The only final drive that I've ever purchased that were unusable, twice... were from Speedtek. The only seat mounts that I've ever purchased that placed the seats in the door frame were from Crank Motorsport. The only poorly designed parts that I had the manufacturer confirm should have been designed as per what I mentioned were from GKTech. The only ECU I've had firmware updates consistently break things are Haltech. The only catch can I've purchased that didn't fit in its advertised spot was from ATP. So forth and so on... Moral of the story, doesn't matter where it's from. Do your research beforehand and stick with products and companies you've trusted in the past.    @joshuaho96 If you want it done right, do it yourself.
