I'm looking to get a dyno tune shortly in my S2 RS4S, but my tuner (Unigroup) only has RWD dyno

I've read plenty of people say 'just drop the front driveshaft', but i have a couple of questions regarding this.

Quick inspection suggests that the transaxle has a yoke and the front diff has the flange. That suggests i'd need to unbolt at the front but wouldn't that mean the shaft is still connected to the transaxle and will spin freely?

Or do people actually remove the yoke as well? (wouldn't that spew fluid everywhere?)

Any input from people who have done this is appreciated

When people say "just drop the front driveshaft" they make it sound like a ten minute job but in reality it will take quite a bit longer so do it well in advance of the day. You need to get the car up in the air so if you haven't got ramps and axle stands you will have to jack up one end at a time and securely block it so that it can't fall on you . You'll need a couple of good quality ring and open enders (can't remember if they are 12 13 or 14mm). Squirt the nuts with CRC or suchlike and then go and have a cup of tea. When you come back bring a hammer as you may need it! If you have a clutch remove the slave cylinder as it tends to get in the way. When you have the shaft out and the car on the ground go to the fusebox in the engine bay and you will see which is the AWD or 4WD fuse ( I think its green) - take it out and put it somewhere safe. You are ok to drive round like this.

The other method of getting it in to 2wd by pulling the plug inside the driver's kick panel works too but for the dyno probably as well to pull the driveshaft.

I got baulked by the slip in yolk on the transfer case also.

Good to know it doesn't leak the oil out but how do you keep the road smeg (sand, water, general crap i run over) from finding its way in to the hole?

Edit: Grey tape would probably do it i suppose?
