Is this going to happen in Mexico, or up here?

Going to have to have some good fab for the exhaust manifolds to clear steering racks and things. Looking fwd to skid vids.

Dale the wise resourceful human that he is sent me a link to a place in Sydney that can do most of the work. Because they specialise in engine swap with this particular motor. Sydney is closer to Newcastle than Mexico.

Yeah also starter motor will have to be relocated as well as it will be in the way.

Ah screw it...... I'm putting a LS1 with a T56 box, single piece tailshaft and other stuff too.

So people I am looking for a whole car preferably. 2002 - 2005 VX/VY and some VZ commodore SS/SV8 Ute or sedan with under or around 130000km and MANUAL

Will pay anything up to about 7.5/8k minor damage ok. Just as long as it's drivable.

You just need to wait for a wet day; you'll have hundreds to choose form. ;)

As for the starter; isn't the US market stuff on the other side? Or is it ours?

Get an LS1 they said, it will be cheap they said......

Not!

My best option is a crate LS1 short block and recondition a T56 box. Whole cars are at least 8k.

Write off's are still expensive. At least with a crate I'll know it hasn't been thrashed within an inch of its life and all shiny and stuff.

Bring on all the haters <3 <3

I thought I had heard somewhere that the T56 in the Commodes was in high demand due to ham fisted owners screwing up the the transmissions and that had destroyed the market in used cheap T56 tranmissions that everyone had expected...

Going for the auto would probably save you a good amount of money, as well as being simpler to source...

Going auto also probably won't fit aswell. Would cost more for the wiring aswell and would weigh more.

My theory is that if I go manual (light) with the LS1 (heavy) it will sort of balance out the VQ (light) with the auto (heavy)

I can find T56 boxes fine. It's the motor. People are asking too stupid prices. 5.5k for a motor with 100000km+ and have to pay more to have it refurb and reconditioned Or buy a crate short motor 5 that is brand spanking new

Okay, that seems rational, but also never heard the T56 describled as light... :whistling:

So you have heads arranged to go with the short motor?

V8 Skyline or Stagea, let alone the Stagline, seems like a great way to get around the direct injection engine limitations.. Hope this all works out. It will be brilliant!!

Compared to my 4at it is light Hahahah.

I haven't arranged anything still knee deep in research and weighing up costs and such.

Yeah I'm pretty keen on the idea looking at dailys at the moment so I can take the skyline off the road. Ralliart Colt or another V35

Just a buy at 13B turbo and chuck it in, simple and effective and will out perform any LS1 for the same price :P

Until it needs to be rebuilt.... Yeah theo

I would also love low end torque aswell.

So I can't get 5.7 crate motors anymore. Spoke to an engineer and because of the weight of the cat a 6lt is good to go.

Also doing supporting mods aswell. So right now I'm sourcing every bush whiteline make for the V35 and having them replaced.

Also a new engine cross member and brembo brakes.
