At the moment I am fairly confident the SS1PU is a Zingy'er turbo than the L2 20g is, based on the existing results filtering thought.

The SS1PU has shaped up to be a GTRS competitor with the prospects for more power should the setup allow for it, while the L2 20g is shaping up to be a true 2835 competitor (which is what some of us had always coined it to be..).

I guess this is where this thread would have ended up anyway lol

not an rb25 obviously but my old 32 gtr had 296kw at wheels...got bored of it after afew months, my mates would shit and seeing them get pushed back into the seat during acceleration was priceless haha

but i agree that around 280rwkw for a gtst street car would be mad fun and quick (with good tyres and width to put down of coarse)

There are soooo many variables especially with youtube videos etc of people doing "runs". One might get on the throttle earlier, be loading on the brakes, gear shift speed etc.

That all leads to "gaps" seeming to be a lot more (or a lot less) than they actually are. Tyres and suspension can make all sorts of differences as well.

I think the best reccommendation for anyone is simple - find someone and jump in their car. Get a feel for it yourself and gauge it from there as everyones perception of what is "acceptable" is different.

Again, knowing how to keep it on the boil better will make the car feel a lot faster. Shifting at the right time, speed of your shifts, how early you get on the throttle in certain situations ETC. All counts.

Like I said, I convinced someone to buy my Disco despite the fact my car was the poorest example of what he should expect from it. I think his T25 180 would have been just as fast, hell civics were pulling on me down the main straight at wakefield. But its all perception at the end of the day, and that being said I dont think there is much to see from these sorts of videos.

But you should still buy the SS1PU champ :thumbsup:

I'm just trying to gauge from videos how much faster is a 300rwkw ride vs a 250-270 one - from takeoff to midrange to top end - just the differences. Haven't been lucky enough to find someone with a ride I can jump into.. Sikss2 was going to take me for a spin in his ss1PU car but then issues like weather, his car missing recently popped up. I think vs videos are a good way to help people gauge the differences - Roy's video on the kando thread of 3 skylines - 200, 260 and 310rwkws respectively running on a circuit was very good, the last 200rwkw skyline surprisingly kept up with the more poerful two esp on corners where it was closing in..

The difference in terms of actual speed/distance is negligible man. I mean you're talking tens of a second. At Powercruise last year I raced a lot of different types of cars down the main straight when I had 330rwhp, the only car that really 'chopped' me was 440 Cuda and that thing is mental. I wasn't getting really badly beaten by a lot out there from the rolling starts, a cars length if that. Similar story between me and my mate when we hit Barbagallo last, I was making 393rwhp and he makes just over 320rwhp, I never really got away from him on the straight.

Roy's video was a good example of how 300rwkw wasn't reallyyyyy a lot faster than 250rwkw. Think about it. How much work goes into cars that run 10.1 seconds to get them into the 9 second bracket?

But going for a drive in someone's would be the best option to compare power

Also comparing 250kw (thats well over 400hp btw) on a road with potholes and telephone poles and all sorts of other scary shit that can and will kill you or somebody close to you very very quickly and unexpectedly..

To having 250kw on a controlled skidpan, dragstrip or racetrack is again comparing apples with oranges..

Do you want a fast car? Or do you want a car that just feels fast and fun on the street? If the latter then running a smaller turbo (gt28, hypergear ss1pu etc) with big boost will result in the massive midrange kick that really makes a car feel fast on the street, on the track when you are at high rpm it won't be as quick as a laggier 300kw car.

Say a 60km/h rolling start - all things being equal - there would be realistically stuff all in it with a 30rwkw variance.

Ye the high powered car would be faster, but you aren't talking an instant 2 car lengths or anything. You'd be lucky if the car with 30rwkw more, pulled more than a car length up to around 150km/h.

But - things aren't equal. It'll vary every single time, and that's all the videos will show you.

There are even other things to consider like the power delivery of the turbo etc. A poorly matched turbo making 280rwkw (say a GT35) will be slower than an appropriate turbo @ 280rwkw.

Yeh you become used to the power extremely quickly.

That said, I'm only 2mph off a mates XR6T ute running 480rwhp.

A genuine 250rwkw in a GTST makes for a very fast street car, perfect for small spirited drives. I'm keen to push my GTRS up to around 1.3bar and see if I can reel off another 15rwkw. I'd be super happy then.

480RWHP XR6T and it's only running 113MPH?

There is something wrong there considering a stock XR6T with the right driver can rattle a high 12 out of one... And they only make 290KW at the fly (In the FG) and less in the older models...
