Hi all

Been slowly fitting a FMIC to my car over the last couple weeks, and realized i'd need to cover up the cooler piping somehow as you could see it below the front bar.

Ended up buying this stuff from clark rubber, it's about $25 a meter, and from memory I used ~2 meters and a handful of self tapping screws to fix it to the bar.

At some point i'll be putting more of the super-cheap mesh in to hide the cooler and joiners, but am fairly happy with the results:

It's about 4mm thick, right angled and made of rubber. Each edge is about 2 inches wide. It's flexible enough to bend around the corner of the bar without distorting it too much, and will flex if i contacted a gutter etc.

yeah lots of people of done similar to this with all sorts of different hardware/clark rubber store stuff..

looks cheap/crap to me...

Each to their own, but Clarke Rubber and Autobarn mesh are no-on's !!

Yeah, i'm not a huge fan of the mesh either, but prefer it to the bar reo and metal edges showing up behind it. I would have preferred black, but this is what was available.

The "lip" i'm happy with as it's similar to what alot of cars have from factory, except this is rubber not plastic.

If you want black mesh, I bought gutter guard from Bunnings for $2 or so, works a treat and looks stock.

Ah ok. Does the job? I'm most likely going to paint the current mesh black.

Do you have any trouble with that stuff stretching/tearing when you fit it or after driving? The mesh is good as it's tough enough to take a few rocks/big bugs without being damaged, but can be bent back into shape if a bird or something hits it.

suxs how i jump on ebay and there are front lips for all sort of cars in the 80-150 range but the R34 skyline your looking at 250 up, hence why people resort to clark rubber front lips. The price are just to damn high.

Yeah I didn't want a carbon fiber/plastic/fiberglass item as I was worried it'd smash the first time it contacted anything, and that alot of them stick out towards the front of the car too much. Been down the bodykit path before, wasn't happy living with it....

Get what his saying, My skyline is not low its actually stock height so i dont scrape or have to worry about speedbumps to much....found myself in a tight spot a week ago in traffic i didnt judge the ange to turn from a lane because i thought the traffic would move foward, so i couldnt exactly turn into the furtherst lane, thanks to my truck spec skyline i was able to ride a little up on the curve and nicely get into the lane, felt like so much win not having to worry about farking up my bumper or say a front lip.

Does the job perfectly, doesn't stretch or tear and mine has been on for about a year. Has survived a few track days as well.

I used to buy the Supercheap stuff and paint it black, but it doesn't work well. Paint lasts about a month.

I wanted to put some good mesh on the intercooler section of my GTR and followed your advice and went to Bunnings to check out all the mesh available - and they all look like bird shit (no disrespect intended of course) but the one you got pictured is either way too thick or plastic soft...where the heck can I get some proper mesh??

    • AFM looks to be a z32 The injectors maybe old Nismo 555cc The turbo tag when looked up seems to be a gt2871 , imagine it would have the bigger rear housing .82 all look like the mid 00's mods when he started building it up. Vac hose seems right but would need to see a diagram. Great work going up there and sorting it out, be a good club car for someone wanting a good reliable rig.  I know I would like to have it but no space and too many other race cars at the moment.
    • Heys guys I got a r32 gtst speedo is out by 10kph seems the faster I go the more it be out  just seeing if anyone else had to problem and knows how to fix it
    • I can't agree. If we hadn't all been brought up with the noise caused by the inefficiency of an ICE, no-one would actually ask for all that. An EV is like any other car, it just goes better.
    • 2 more things I have to work out Easy one first...can anyone describe how to pull the fuel pump and sender from a 33? I can feel there is some sort of mount and clips but don't have a manual and don't know the trick......if not I'll spend some quality time in the boot witha lighter tomorrow. Second question is harder.  He had changed the upper plenum to a plazmaman but clearly got to a point with the vacuum hoses where he said "f**k it, I'm going inside for a beer" and never came back to that job because it was a mess. Am I right to think that I need: 1. Pre throttle (16mm nipple on inlet) to AAC's main 20mm fitting as the main pre throttle feed 2. ACC has a second 13m outlet joined to that 20mm fitting which I think is the pre throttle air supply for the cold start valve? 3. Cold start valve's outlet fitting then goes to Plenum (to bypass throttle?) There is some adapter on the back of the ACC with 2 fittings (13mm and 10mm), do I run the 10mm through a 1 way valve to the Brake Booster (4) and the 13mm back to a 13mm nipple on the Plenum as the Idle control (5)? 6. Run a 6mm vacuum line from the Turbosmart BOV to the Plenum? 7. Run a 5mm vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Reg to the Plenum? 8. Run a 5mm vacuum line from the Turbosmart Boost controller to the Plenum? (Wastegate already has a pre turbo pressure source running to the solenoid then the wastegate on the other side of the bay)  Any help appreciated, the GTR is quite different setup and while the Stagea also has FFP it is different again. (And no Dose, I'm not pissing it all off and putting a ethrottle on it....)
    • OK, onto some questions to try and speed up the process a little. Does anyone know what core this Garret is? I know it is a high flowed standard turbo but nothing else about it. Tag says OK 0169J - 446179-5032 Same question for the injectors, I don't know what they flow and ideally can work it out before it hits the dyno, they are a mustard yellow side feed
