So long time no update. Well not much has changed. Still waiting on the head to come back. and for my tax to come in so i can get the turbo set up and cams ect paid for. Picked up an EBoost2 for the boost control and also salvaged my old AF ratio meter from my blue 33. Mounted the custom sheet metal console and also made up a plate where the center vents go for the 2 gauges. will be putting more gauges under the switches ect later on. Please note im an amateur metal worker and am nowhere near a pro lol. But atm its more for practical then later on ill re do all the metal work, which wont be much lol. Heres a few more pics.

So got the 25 gearbox out today. Ready to go into the 32. Got a call from the head shop. Exhaust valve guides were a little dodgy so got them replaced. Valves shaved and seats smoothed. Was expecting it back today but they were a no show. Standard cams will be put in for now until the ones from the states arive. Getting closer :)

Just an update guys, motor is 3/4 back together on the stand. Just chasing a forward facing plenum, a turbo and the water line that wraps around the back of the head. Shes been put together with just standard cams for now, once motor is run in and i have more $$$ i will upgrade to the tomei items. Pics will be up shortly of the build process of the motor.

Tomei just seen alot of people using them, i did get quoted other brands that were local ones but they were same price if not more expensive. I herd they are good but only if you are combining them with a nice turbo upgrade, ecu injectors ect. They were only going to be the PON CAM which doesnt require the replacement of the valve springs ect. The turbo im chasing is probably i hi flowed series 1 R33 turbo, i actually have a stock S1 R33 turbo in my posession but am unsure of its state of repair. Looks ok but never saw it running on the engine i took it off. Then later on probably a 25/30 or something like that.

Turbo choice is very critical on the little 20 , what sort of power are you chasing? , if you're not sure what power you want then do as much research as you can before spending any more hard earned! The forced induction forum is a good place to start , there's plenty of info in there about turbo and other bolt on bits that can save you thousands by learning from other peoples mistakes :) . Just saying ;)

(2 threads that would be a good start are the kando and hypergear threads , they are mostly for rb25 but a keen reader will find the stuff on rb20 )

Thanks mate, Yah ive just put a S1 33 turbo on for now, just until i can get the motor up and running to sort little gremlins out. Was looking at a 25/30 or equivelent obviously ball bearing and not ceramic. Car will be used mainly for texi and track days, but rarely for drift. So ceramic for now running 10psi hopefully will hold for a little.

Ordered the forward facing plenum which sits on top of the standard runners. Then motor can be dropped in. Have re ran coolant lines to delete where the heater hoses used to go to the core. sorted the oil light switch and mounted the short wiring harnes on that side. Unsure wether to run cooling lines to the trottle body still. Am using the standard 65mm Rb20 throttle body so does have the connections for the cooling lines. If not will just loop the 2 ports. So now i play the waiting game, expecting the new shinny chrome manifold to arrive tuesday or wednesday. Getting closer :)

Plazmaman is the only brand I'm aware of that just does the plenum section of the intake manifold; did you get a copy or genuine? Or is there another company making a similar product?

Check EBay mate, found them the other day.... Similar to Plazmaman but a bit squarish... Was going to send Alex the link but forgot...

Yeh I've seen the copies, they've been out for probably around a year or so now. That's why I asked, I'm interested to see how they go compared to the genuine versions.

Yah its an aussie company Vulture motorsports. They are in the buisnes section of the sale threads. Its a copy and about a 1/4 of the price. Being that this is a track car im not concerned if it causes a problem later on cause it wont matter if its off the road lol.But ive asked around and this is the only option for the little 20 unless as you say a plazmaman one which im not forking out over $1000 for just a track pig lol. I will definately have dyno sheets up and let you know how it feels on track once shes all up and going :) TBH i just want to hear her run with the side pipe exhaust im putting on her ;)

So I have bit the bullet and brought the forward facing manifold new from vulture motorsport. Nowhere near a straight fit. After trimming every bolt to mount the manifold top i finnally got it on, and brought all the extra fittings. Installed the short drivers side harnes to the block and mounted throttle body along with replacing all coolant lines. Installed the turbo lines behind the head and now motor is ready to put in hopefully tomorrow. Also sourced a RB20 gearbox crossmember to suit the 25 box. So that is also ready for install. Still finding options for the tailshaft which is my last major hurdle. Heres some more pics :)

So the best update so far. MOTOR IS IN!!!!! :) Got the motor in here yesterday. Today i have installed the wiring harness, along with extending the plugs for the TPS and Idle speed control. Also ran the boost line for the Eboost to the manifold. Also looked at a cusion button clutch which i shall be getting next week. Being only aprox 150-200kw nothing major is required...yet. So once i have that 25 box will be going in and hopefully all down hill from there ;) Here is a nice pic. :)

So been doing little loose ends today, works been a bit slow so why stand around when theres a 32 to be built. So ran new soft fuel lines in the engine bay, finnished the main engine loom including plugging the ECU in ect inside the cabin. Replaced fuel filter and also hooked up the cool looking SARD fuel pressure reg. I know shes not a 500hp weapon but being a track car always nice to be able to pop the hood and check how your fuel pump is holding up. Especially when and if you run into dramas under load. Just need to get now some silicon boost line for the wastegate, boost control and BOV lines. Also some pipe for intercooler and idle air control vac lines. Getting closer :)

    • Welcome.  Glad to hear that you have gained some knowledge that has helped you. I believe the only fix for the power steer belt is an electric conversion with a Holden astra pump. If you get a chance, post pics of your car, please. 🙂

    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
