I took my water injection nozzle out of stagea on weekend, its one of the new style cooling mist ones, that are meant to

atomise a lot better..funny comparing it to the SUE water/air atomiser i use pre-turbo on R31..like chalk and cheese really

the SUE is a ALOT finer..i can see why you cannot spray the pumped systems(250psi pump) pre-turbo without a lot of wear...

cheers

darren

This kit seems the goods.

Will be getting one of this as well.

How long would a gallon tank last if it's just shorts bursts here and there or should I be going the larger 2.3 gallon one

All up it's $721 delivered which seems pretty reasonable for what it is.

Also if you are going coolingmist, get it from here

http://www.importimageracing.com/shopby/coolingmist.html

It's cheaper!

Shit good find Mitch!

What kit would you choose if you were in my situation because there are so many cheaper options on that site

I don't mind spending the money but hell if you can get something for cheaper why not.

I'd go the one you were looking at, or the dual nozzle version perhaps

It's got good safety features so if something fails, you can set it up to switch off your boost controller and run off gate pressure or switch maps etc

Or you could go aquamist hfs3, it looks nice

That's the kit I ended up buying and got the 2.5 gallon tank. I dunno how long it will last yet but should be a while with street use.

I'm hoping to install it this weekend then up to Jez for the tune.

I'm going to marulan in August for a track day so it will be a good test.

I also bought 8 gallons of the snow performance premix water/meth mix so that should do me for a while.

I'll post up some before and after results once tuned.

sorry for the noob question, but can wmi be used with e85? or is the ethanol's effect (being already 85% of the fuel) already large enough on the charge temps, that any additional water/meth would be negligible or is there another reason why you wouldn't?

That should be a nice result with the wmi then, up around 320 or a bit more I would think

Yeah I'm hoping so, Joeyjoejo.....etc managed 325 on e85 with 555 injectors so I would imagine mine on WMI would be comparible to his. We have similar setups but I have a plazmaman where he is running the factory plenum but he has a fresher engine now I believe.

Will be interesting, you do read some stuff out of the states where people are claiming 100-150hp gains from WMI but I am a bit sceptical of those figures tbh.

Yeh, I think that's a bit out of proportion, but it'll still be a good result. Get a graph up to compare pre/post wmi when you get it done.

Joey is on the standard plenum isn't he? Be interesting to see if the plazmaman effects the result. I've heard a few people say that they go backwards with them, but other claim gains.

I didn't think the nismo 555's would flow enough for 300kw+ on e85, must be on the edge!

my 555's were on 78%duty with 280kw without E85,

Joeys injectors seem freakish. My 555's are at around 70% with 280kw as well iirc.

Maybe Joey will see this and post up what his duty cycle is, I remember it was pretty high.

As with the plazmaman I can't really comment on what gains or losses it made, I upgraded the turbo and changed too many other things at the same time so dunno really.

I have been chatting with Jez about the WMI a fair bit so he knows it's coming. I think my car is going to be a little bit of a guinnea p1g for him for WMI tuning. But I am sure he will be happy to log pre & post results for me.

I wish I had a ecu that could have multiple maps, thats when the failsafe really pays for itself in the kit I got. If it detects any errors/blockages etc it will send a signal to the ecu and switch maps to a more conservative tune.

Cause I only have a pfc ill just set it up to turn off the ebc and run on actuator pressure (15psi) not perfect but better than nothing.

Yeh, the coolingmist kits do have good safety features.

When i go wmi I'll be getting Jez to tune it as well, so it'll be good that he knows his way around the cmgs autolearn kit

What size nozzle did you get, cm7?

Edited by Mitcho_7

Oh great, let him blow up mine so he can get yours right :) (Just jokes Jez)

Yeh cm7 was what coolingmist advised, out of interest they also told me that the nozzle can be placed pretty much anywhere between the IC and TB and dosent have to be put at around 8-10cm from the TB to get the best effects.

This was good news to me because I have very limited room at 8cm due to my bov and catch can and the way my piping is positioned. I'm hoping that I can put the jet on the underside of the pipe just before is turns and goes through the hole into the guard, that way the spray will point straight up and not at a right angle if that makes sense, so it will end up being about 20-30cm from the TB in the end if it all works out.

That's sounds good, and it'll be a bit more stealth on the underside of the cooler piping.

As long as it doesn't have to go through many turns to get into the plenum I think it should be fine.

What boost are you going to get it to start injecting at and come on full flow?

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
