Guys,

was wondering where abouts in the SE Melb (around cranbourne) that can do both a compression & leak down test on my R33 GTST? either a feloww SAU member or workshop?

Also would like to know when you do a comression test do you have the throttle open when performing it or not?

Regards,

Darren

Operating temp and WOT.

If you have basic tools to remove spark plugs etc I would just buy a compression tester if I was you. What you would pay for someone to do it u, could of bought a tester & still have cash in ur pocket.

They really are piss to do and then u have a compression tester for any issues or other cars u may need it for.

Here is a very good article to explain the differences.

In short engine compression can tell you whether an engine is tired and a leak down test can show you the engines ability to utilise all of it's compression pressure.

Compression testers can be cheap, leak down testers are not. If you can't be bothered you can go to my workshop. Chasers Motorworks - Eastside Division in Mitcham.
