I like this idea

In seriousness, I have used the Citrus based Cat/Dog repellant and it seems to work, but you need to re apply after a couple weeks. Actually its faily pleasant to the human nose as well.

Adopt a dog, they kill the cat, protect your car, happy to see you all the time (unlike the missus) .....
