Hi all. Havent been here for awhile, so I thought id share some good news. After numerious problems with my car, we finally found some reliablity and came out class B winner for the weekend, while almost everyone else had dramas. The only problem we had was a lack of power, the car is tuned with 300kws, but some of that seems to have gone awol! Did find were some of it was going, out though a loose bolt on the the dump pipe, but once that was done up, it still didnt feel super quick like it did before. We have had the head off, so maybe we didnt get the cams spot on, so it will get tuned before we race again.

managed a fastest lap of 61.6 for the weekend, but should of been able to do 60's if all the power was there.

ive uploaded a couple of video to youface.

Looking good man, a couple of guys from SAU were up there on Sunday (myself included) and it turned out to be an awesome day.

61.6 is a good solid time, but 60's at symmons would be a great base time ;)

so says you... Mr 70s :P

You're such a super troll Mr. Nowell, what's your best time around symmons again? Oh yeah, that's right... :P

I've never even driven symmons. Just commenting on times in regards to the competition like every other joker out here, not comparing them to anything I've even experienced ;)

You should be stoked just to have finished with the problems that everyone else had.

When are you coming up for some laps trollbermerc?

It was crazy watching the race on Sunday, half the field disappeared by the end of the race :P

I'm pretty sure he's coming up for some quarter laps (drifting) this weekend :)

To everyone anyone that didn't run this event and could’ve... sorry, but you seriously missed out!

I wasn't that fussed about running at the V8s in the past, but with my car finally up and running and with some tyres, pads and rotors left-over from Rally Tas, at the very last minute I thought why no let’s do it.

For me it was such a cruisey reintroduction in to circuit racing with zero pressure... so much so I missed qualifying due to a minor (clutch master cylinder) issue, and instead of fixing it straight away we watched qualifying then sorted it!

It was fun getting the hang of the 'new' car on the track (particularly off the back of the grid in race one!), re-understanding tyre performance checking out cooling temperates etc... and generally enjoying some dicing with a bunch of top guys and it was pretty cool just being part of the V8 circus.

One of the best things about the Invitationals was the race lengths. I always enjoyed the longer races back in 2004 when I last did a full circuit season in the R32 with 12 and 15 lap races.

Being out there for 12 laps at the V8s was great fun. Five laps like usual TSS rounds are just too short, seven fine, ten great... 12 or 15 would be awesome again.

If you have a car able to compete and the V8SC offer the opportunity for this category to run again in 2013, don't give it a second though, just get amongst it!

    • Just had a look, they don't. Fuelling on the base map is purely alpha-N, and the ignition table is MAP. Remember it's just a base map to get the car moving
    • Hi everyone, I’m Dave from Canberra. Here's a few pics of my 1992 R32 GTST coupe which I imported back in 2006. Only mods so far are HKS Hi-power cat back exhaust, K&N filter, ATC Volanti steering wheel, Pioneer stereo, amp and sub. This was my daily driver up until 2015 and sadly hasn’t been driven at all in the last 5 years due to marriage, work, and kids taking up most of my time and spare cash.As such its in need of a bit of TLC and one of my goals for this year is to get it back to running condition and maybe look into club/historic rego. I’ve joined SAU so I can ask a few questions along the way (although I promise to google Current Problem +SAU beforehand!)
    • From talking to the mx5 guys the NC doesn't actually need bonnet vents like the earlier NA and NB models, due to a better designed cooling system and undertray design There's plenty of them used as street cars and weekend track toys running anywhere from around 170 to 250kw with stock non vented bonnets, I initially was going to get some bonnet vents, but, as they are not actually required, I'll put vents on hold for a while and just monitor temps, though I do need to get something to actually monitor engine oil temps though, coolant temp can be pulled from the OBD2, but the oil gauge in the car is not actual oil temp, it is only a calculation based off coolant temp and RPM ☹️ They do recommend upgrading the radiator, which I have already done with a triple pass, and the only other thing they recommend for a street car is heat management, like I talked about above to protect bits in the engine bay from radiant heat, and to either replace the nearly 20 year old plastic coolant expansion tank, which I have done, or get a aftermarket alloy jobbie for some bling They did also say that if I wanted to track the car on occasion a oil cooler and sump baffle would be required, and as I already have had a sump baffle installed when the engine was out......... I'm going to get a oil cooler with a thermostat....... just in case I do eventually track the car, but probably not, but still maybe...🤪
    • Finally had these painted and fitted and pleased with the result. also managed to source 400R fender badges.
