Hey guys, looking to get my v35 lowered. I don't have much cash so want to go the cheapest possible route - so basically looking at getting springs. I don't want anything too outrageous perhaps 1-1.5" drop, something that wont affect my shocks too much. Anyway have good experience with any particular springs? There is a place in Adelaide, they want to charge ~530 to lower my car with king springs, however its a 40-50mm drop, is this too much? I have 19"s so just want the car to sit a little lower and have the wheels nice and flush with the guards. Any help will be appreciated

Cheers

40-50mm is way too much if you drive in Adelaide - that is about how much I am lowered and I hate it - I am going to raise mine up again as my aftermarket front bar and exhaust components both scrape on everything. If your car is stock you might be ok though.

Also keep in mind that if you drop it that much you will definitely need rear camber arms, as there is not much camber adjustment in the rear of the V35s.

You are on the right track with finding some 350Z springs IMHO - I am on the hunt for some as well.

Did you know we have a Skyline club in Adelaide? www.sausa.com.au

Cheers mate, yeah after reading around a little I have decided I don't want to drop it any lower than 1" which I think will work out fine.

I just don't know where to get a nice set of springs from :S and then I need to find a good place to install. I reckon installation will end up being around the 200 mark.

And yeah heard about sasau from Brad!

just my thoughts..if you dont have much cash to spend-keep the car standard and enjoy, use the money on keeping the car running well.

from my experience,if you are going to do something, do it properly.

if you really want to go down that path, i have had good experience with Magill Bridgestone and North Terrace Tyres, also Sinergy have a lot of experience with V35s and suspension installs.

Yeah I'm getting a service done at the same time - thinking I'll go with sinergy. Will get them to install 1" lower springs along with doing a service.

PS. on another note - I tried to remove my gear knob tonight as its worn and was thinking of reconditioning it - have worked on many cars in the past and removing the knobs is as simple as twisting. Now tried this on the v35 tried to twist a little, did half a rotation then stopped and googled it only to find out there is a proper way of doing it, and if done incorrectly you can damage your transmission!!!!! Is there a chance I damaged my transmission? I had the car turned off and put it through the gears after and it seemed fine.. Guess I get really paranoid with these things :S I'll do it properly with a clamp tomorrow, just hope by I didn't fk up anything :(

Edit: just took her for a drive and she seems fine! pheww

Cheers

Now there are so many V35 owners in SA on here we should get another SA V35 meet organised! Last one we had about 8 V35s from memory.

Lets organise one!! once we get our new lights they are going to look amazing and a million bucks!!

I'd be very keen

Quick question in regard to lowering a Sedan, g35driver recommends using 350z springs on the front and coupe springs on the rear, this apparently gives a simlar gap between the guard and the tyre and makes it look even, also they have the same spring rate as the factory sedan springs so the ride won't be harsh. Are there any sedan owners on here who have gone down this track? or are the spring heights different for JDM coupes, and/or Aust Delivered 350Z?

^^ I think that is the idea of the coupe springs in the rear. The 350Z springs give a level drop in reference to the road, but looks uneven due to the different wheel arch gap, and since I have staggered tyres, I might go down the z/coupe combo route if I can ever find springs for a reasonable price.

if you want 350z springs, a guy posted this on the Z forum a month ago
