Hi guys got 260 10.80mm pro cams for my head, at my head mech he said they fit with no head work, do these cams always need head work to clear the lobes from hitting?? Or is it random?

The base circle for those camshafts is 30mm. I will put 50c on them not turning without machining the cylinder head

Are you also aware that you have to replace the springs and lifters as recommended by Tomei?

I thought Poncams fit without modification, while Procams need modification.

Oh oops, I thought it was not realising that the 260 duration is a poncam in 9.15mm lift, but anything bigger in lift with the same 260 duration was a procam

Stick to the question i have all necessary mods inc springs and lifters im asking if they need to machine the head where the lifter is because i found it bizzare my head guy said their spinning with clearence

Yessir!!

How about go to the head guy, watch the camshafts rotate with clearance. If they clear then you have nothing to worry about except video evidence so you can claim your 50c

My 270's @ 10.25 in my old head needed to be relieved. My new head with 10.5's also did.

Head needs to be machined (ground out with a die grinder) to allow the lobes to clear.

It's always possible that at some point in the cars life it had been clearanced for larger cams, then returned to stock later.

But you would want to be 100% on this
