nah Chapman, in order to fit climate to an S15 you need around $1k worth of bits and pieces and roughly another $1k for labour. You need to fit an entire new wiring loom and fit several stepper motors and various other components. A guy from Vic did it a year ago and I looked at his websie on how to do it. It is an extremely difficult and expensive operation!

My other main issue with my S15 is that I can't get much of the power to the gorund without breaking traction - so traction control would be awesome.

Oh, and the whole twin plate clutch exercise I hate, as it is now a pain to drive in any sort of traffic (which I do all day).

I still love my S15 though, and if I am to part with it, it will be an extremely difficult decision.

i used to install a climate control to my S13 and it only cost $3-400 included parts.

traction problem, maybe some bigger rims so u can fit wider tyres?

i heard there is a product from nismo can reduce the weight of the clutch, which might help u to control the release a bit easily? my friend installed it to his GTR with triple plate ATS carbon clutch and he said it feel very little different to stock.

usually i will recommend people to get a new car. but yr case, u have spend SO much money to the car and it's just a real waste to sell it now.

I'm not sure if the traction control will make it launch or grip better for straightline speed, esp if it just cuts power all together. Might have to borrow a mates GT-T to test the effectiveness of the traction control! Hahaha....

In answer to Andrew's question, I reckon the Traction Control System (TCS) on the R34 makes the car lose power to the slipping wheel.. but funnily enough when I tried it on the Highway with a G-tech I did better times with TCS on. Probably coz I'm probably inexperienced in launching manuals... but yeah with out the TCS the car slides out like crazy but u feel the power.. and often can smell the clutch..lol..

so I take it from your comment the TCS does have some sort of launch control - so if you rev it up at standstill and abosultely drop the clutch, the wheels won't smoke up at all? And does the TCS work if you say lose traction around a corner when having a spirited drive in the hills? I know my wife's Accord Euro does - it is amazing the way the car applies brakes to 1 wheel only of you start to get out of shape.

Few of my mates have got twin plates clutches in their car's and they arnt as much of a bitchy thing as being described!! I had an OS Giken in my car and it was great, had to pull it out cause it was slipping but it will be going back in!! Is it sprung centre or solid???

It is an Exedy twin plate.

Yeah I think it is faulty, but I have already had it replaced - so I fear I would go through the whole process of getting it warrantied again - then the new one would just be the same again after a couple of months.

Geoff has been pretty helpful. I am in the final stages of deciding whether to cop a big loss on my car and buy the R34, or spend a few more grand on my car and fix all the little things wrong with it, and keep it longer. I am in 2 minds. I am worried about how slow the R34 will be, and whether I would be happy with it. I wouldn't be in a position to spend any money on it, so would leave it basically stock for the time being. I can't decide, I don't want to see the S15 go, as it is such an awesome car! But then I would love an auto for all the work miles I do, plus climate control and traction control is a big bonus.

weighting up the cost and benefits and the vibe that you post your opinion, it seems you are very eagar for a change. If you cant stand driving your car - no matter what it is, thats a definate sign for rethinking if you should keep it longer. Sure fixing it may prolong the problem from persisting but in the end you will still feel the same, that is i want something else. Please dont take this as anything other how i see it as you post it.

yeah you're right Duc, I absolutely love my car and imho the S15 is a much better car overall (performance vs power etc), but by the same token there are little things that piss me off about it too. I still love the car, despite the little setbacks/features I would like - which is what makes my decision so hard. Also I have just put a HID kit in it and a large capacity sump and new fuel pump is going in tomorrow. I have literally just poured money into the car - which makes the loss on selling it even harder to bear. When I do the quick sums on hardware I have bought the total comes to a bit over $15k - makes me think I should try for more like $40k, given stockers still go for around $30k. Ahh decisions, decisions.

nah mate, I have now bought the R34 4 door. It arrives in 6-10 weeks. My S15 goes on the market shortly. If anyone knows of someone after a 12 second S15 with over $20,000 worth of receipts please forward them on to me. I am asking $37,000.
