hey guys, thought this would be the best forum to ask to get decent answers. am slowly piecing a E85 fuel system together in my 180sx. so far have the following:

2.5L surge tank mounted under car, fed by a walbro 255lph intank fuel pump. have mounted 2 044 fuel pumps underneath the car aswell.

have a twin entry fuel rail with a centre return which feeds a sard type L fuel reg ... i would have gone something better, fuel lab, aeromotive etc but this part was left over from another build.

will have each 044 running a -6 line into either end of the rail and then the central return via a -6 also. injectors are bosch id2000's

questions are regarding fuel filters. which should i use? i've seen the new earls billet ones look quite good and apparently flow quite alot 175gph, which is heaps for a 044. should i run a filter for each pump in

between the surgetank and pump to stop any crap going through the 044's.. and if i run a filter between the surge and the pump, should i run another pair of filters after the 044's, in between the pump and the fuel rail?

i'd prefer just to run the one set of fuel filters, to minimise cost, and to keep as much crap out of the engine bay as possible.

reccomendations please :).. and also if someone can reccomend what sort of relay/fusing/ gauge wiring to use for the pumps :). i read the 044 draws around 15 amps, so should i use a 20amp fuse inline for each of the pumps, along with a 20amp relay?

and have the relay triggered off the factory fuel pump wiring... ecu is a link g4 plug in, so all factory fuel pump wiring etc is still in use.

well at the moment aiming for around 250kw on the stock engine, it makes 220kw on pump now. i've got a built engine for it but not going to put that in untill there is rods hanging out the side of the stock one haha. i only really like to do things once. id1000's and one 044 would probably do it for now, but then i'd have to go and get new injectors, another pump bla bla bla later on. tuner told me that id1000's will be on the limit at around 260ish kw on e85 so hoping that id2000's and 2 044's should see me through to bout 400kw @ wheels?

That is basically the same fuel system as mine except I have a Nismo lift pump.

I use one MagnaFuel inline filter between the 044s and my fuel rail.

This system supports 800hp quite easily on E85 ;) so id say its a bit overkill for your power goals.

ID1000's maxed at 250kw!? How rich is he going to be running it??? ID2000's and 2 044's should do an easy 400rwkw.

from what i understand, for the stock engine. runs f**k all timing to keep it alive, less timing = more heat = more fuel required to keep it cool/same afr's as running normalish timing thus requiring more injector. that's how i understand it anyway.

i'm sure you can all tell me that its the wrong way to do it bla bla etc. but i trust these guys with my tune, and have been using the same 2 guys for years, which both implement the same technique. really just want to know the answer to the fuel filters if anyone has any experience in this

cheers, i'll check out the magnafuel filters now :). i'll never make 800hp haha. but i'm all about overkill, id rather have too much then not enough.

If it's an EVO - 260awkw is NOT the same as a 260rwkw as EVOs are full time AWD.

1000cc are needed to support 270-300awkw in a EVO. Your tuner is correct, don't listen to the other guys saying otherwise.

Also 400awkw through an EVO will be... Interesting. Are you really going to go that far?

mad, what duty cycle are you on at 285 with the 1000's?

dont' really see the point in going the 1000's when they are same price as 2000's. dont care if it uses more fuel or driveability etc isn't as good, its a track only car.

+400kw in the evo really isn't that exciting. id prefer the 400kw be in a skyline. evo = boring to drive. 4wd system in the skylines is way more fun, and alot more predictable.

800cc on e85 with a single walbro was maxed on a customers sr20 at 300kw.

U should go the id 2000cc for later upgrades.

wow, thats really good. guys up here are maxing out 800cc on pump at around 280-290kw on sr's

+ is it really going to be better for the tune using 1000cc now then changing to 2000cc later? i just see it as wasting money. as you'll need to retune the entire map for the 2000cc, and buy new injectors again. unless there is some benefit :S?
