The gasket kit I got came with a gasket instead of an oring for the oil pickup like the R32 originally came with, can I use this without any problems with oil pressure, I see the gasket has a pressed outline the same diameter as the original o-ring and if it can be used what orientation should the gasket be, fitted in the grove side of the strainer? Is this the new type of gasket for the R32's?

Use the metal gasket.

Nissan updated the design for something that will out last the rubber o ring.

I've changed 2 so far and no problems with oil pressure.

Will work both ways, just make sure surfaces are flat and no nicks, and done up tight.

Yes nissan updated it along with the design of the strainer seat.

AFAIK the gasket is used on the 33/34 blocks where the oil strainer does not have a grove in it and both surfaces are perfectly flat hence the reason for the gasket.

On the 32s where there is a groove on the strainer it will be better to use an o ring as nissan intended, because who knows how that gasket would seal with the indented ring falling exactly where the groove in the strainer is
