Originally my car had a massive X Force Cannon but was losing back pressure and was gutless down low and really loud so I replaced it with a lukey sports muffler. 2.5 inch mandrel bent cat back with something like a lukey rear muffler is the way to go I done that to my NA Neo RB25 and with a high flow fuel filter, K&N panel filter, Super Spark Coil packs with Iridium plugs I managed 177kw or 235hp on a dyno run.

The horrible death-rattle from ~2500rpm-~3500rpm is NORMAL, it's an unfortunate NA trait, and has been deeply discussed multiple times:

It's rumored that a good quality after market exhaust can help reduce or eliminate the noise.
