So currently putting a list together on what mods ile be doing to my 25, have a 8g budget im working with too achieve close too 400hp and build my 32 into a drifter, will never be rego'ed again.

currently im going with

definite mods

HyperGear G3 turbo

DW300 in-tank fuel pump

740cc Deatschwerks injectors

Maybe mods

EWP

6boost midmount

Greddy manifold

But im stuck deciding if i should go with E85 or a WMI setup, both have there pros and cons, for me E85 is harder too buy as im in queensland but the power gains and and anti det will be alot more then WMI, but WMI will bring my temps down, engine will run alot cleaner and is easy to get...or run 50/50 E85 and 98ron...hummm

any advice will be appreciated,

you can easily run WMI on E85, but now your talking some serious power lol more than you will push from a G3

for a track dedicated car in a non E85 friendly area, WMI will be easier to make do with.

once E85 is easier to come by you wont be at too much of a loss to retune and on sell the WMI kit. The WMI kits are under $500 for something that will do the job.

Why is E85 hard to get for a track only car in brisbane? There's a caltex at goodna which sells it, you'd go past that on the way to QR. There's also one in ipswich itself, a few over on the bayside and one near mt gravatt.

WMI is a BC E85 or agrestic Oz [where E85 is unavailable] solution. If you have good access to E85 and never travel outside the metro area/s then use it - its cheaper and easier to set up than WMI. For all us erudites unable to take advantage of E85, WMI is the answer.

I think the question that determines which way you go is how often do you drive the car. A lot of k's will mean WMI.

I'd like to see someone try a little straight water with E85. You would spray 1/2 the volume that you would if using a WMI setup for the same power level. Around 400cc for 400kw atw.

The advantage I see is that you could run the E85 tune a lot leaner, into the 12.x:1 range. Which will help a little with fuel economy in the long run. I can't remember exactly, what he told me but Piggaz's car drinks E85 at a pretty alarming rate. Well over 10lt/minute at wide open throttle.

From what I understand about E85 tuning, rich AFR's under full load are needed to help keep detonation at bay and also to keep things from getting too hot. In this way E85 tunes more similar to pure methanol burning engines than ULP.

Im running a Microtech LT12s btw, its going to be a track car so distance isnt that much of an issue, you use around 45% more fuel when your on E85 because to get the same amount of energy from the fuel you require alot more, just like Avgas, i just dont want to have to bring 100LTs of E85 too every drift event lol

Can someone explain how you'd do the 50/50 ethanol mix, does this mean mixing fuel at home from a drum or would you have 2pumps at the servo, one for 98 and one for ethanol?

What kind of gains would you get from 50% mix if your making say 300kw with 98?

id say get 2 20lt drums and put both in your fuel tank, i wouldnt buy e85 from the pump, only the drums, i assume it would be simlar gains too straight E85 but not as much, would also require less fuel then straight E85

just go flex-fuel setup.

Ethanol content sensor

ECU with digital input (Link G4, some of the Haltechs etc)

And get some ID1000's at least, to leave you some headroom if you change your mind. Better injectors anyway.

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!  
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
