running yet or you doing a bobby on us

cut bobby some slack ... he is doing what's never been done before & is following the laws of joule thomson effects....

apparently his tune is gonna be f1 spec which is why its taking so long

Hopefully goes to Hypertune tomorrow for turbo to plenum piping but I've heard that before!

Yeah yeah, turns out the rear turbo was cactus anyway. 5000 kms. Spose they didn't like to be run so hard so either way the turbos were coming off. Oil all through the dump.

Have you forgot already that you actually removed that one thing that may we'll have saved your rear turbo from leaking oil.

It's actually very critical that you don't oversupply oil pressure to the cartridge on ball bearing turbos when running a high volume oil pump.

I actually recall you saying you had the HKS .8mm restrictor years ago, but you ran the 1.2mm one with your big oil pump.

The result is that you expired a turbo very quickly from over pressurising your ball bearing cartridge with oil pressure which was meant to be drip-fed.

Common issue when running a larger oil pump.

Not really the Turbo's fault[emoji19]

Finally, an update.

Car was dropped off at Hypertune on Friday for the cooler mount up, turbo to plenum piping and a few other bits and bobs.

Sneak peak at what they do to guide the air into the runners. Core measures 680 x 325 x 100.

What are u doing with the BOVs

All the factory stuff got ripped out. The EFR has one on the compressor housing. I bought the Turbosmart kompact EFR version. Directs the pressurised air back at the comp wheel.

Clean, neat, simple.

It's not shown in those photos because Hypertune pulled it off to weld the 90 on the comp housing.

Few pics from today. They put a bung for an aftermarket air temp sensor just before it pops back into the engine bay. Do away with the "engine bay sensor" on the plenum. Pipes from snail to the guard and guard to plenum will be black. No clamp on the plenum, it would have meant it had to be removed, no thanks!

Donut and launch videos not loading???

Haha excellent build, cant wait to see how the efr goes and what it sounds like!!

Thanks mate! I'm getting rather itchy myself :P.

I can imagine!!

Pipework looks awesome!!! Wiggins clamps?

Yeah, Wiggins. 5 in total. Blown cooler pipes are no longer (unless the plenum one pops). No more taking front bars off!

Thinking about painting the airbox black, cutting a hole in the top of it and using the factory airbox snorkel to feed the box too. Can't hurt!?

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
