sorry what i mean is it should make more power with your manifold on my car.and that if someone is making just under 350kw with a stock one then your manifold should be able to make more. in theory

will i get a better price if i mention jim lol

No better price I don't think.hah.

I getcha. Yes I can definatelt make much more.power with this manifold.

You guys will wanna be careful hanging ext gates on manifolds that have had material taken out.

1. The manifold is now weaker

2. You are adding more weight

The chances it'll crack are now even higher, in standard form they rarely crack but people have certainly taken out too much meat in the past and then had them fail. Making all the stuffing around worthless.

Just something to think about, don't get too crazy with taking material out everywhere you can.

$800 is quite expensive when you can get a proper after market one for $400 more :/

That's why you take it to a pro. Dont want some tard making your manifold into tissue paper. And air temps through manifold are now cooler And has less resistance travelling through. Despite loosing material I would say its prob a little safer, If not the same as stock. As long as too much material isn't taken out.

Regarding external gate that I think is a fair call. Hanging weight off a thinner material may not be a great idea.

Only internally gated bottom mount manifolds I found were 1800. So this was the cheaper option for me. Pretty happy all round!

ported stock manifold $800... 6boost $1200.. i know which one i would go.

If top mount or externally gated. Yep. Anyone got cfm 6boob. Cos my gains are pretty good. Nearly 30rwkw. 100nm torque. Forget the name. How's it flow?

I'm certain there has been at the least one user who did get it professionally done, and it cracked after a little while (not immediate).

Hard to know with every single manifold how much to/not-to take out etc

Yeah top mount all the way, especially for that sort of coin..

Also there's a few welding gates onto manifolds lately, yes it works to sone extent but this is a budget hack mod..those of you with cash to spend on good setups shouldn't even be considering it..

Yeah I'm looking at you Nick ;)

Yeah. Time will tell I guess. Hopefully turns out OK :)

hahahahahha thanks yer i know i was looking for the easy way out but it looks like ill have to 6boost it with a comment like that.or if i could get my hands on a hks low mount one.

looks like im going to have to sell my 2000k old ceramic coated .87 pro s rear housing & dump it never ends ARTZ !!

No limit so far going bottom mount. Manifold could have Been a hiccup, but 50% flow increase is a nice gain. Plus I look stock under the bonnet.

Standard dif haha.

Haha no wonder she is a pig to drive :woot:

Get a decent diff and feel how much straighter she drives and how much more pressure it puts on your tail bone when she starts putting the power down....

Absolute next mod for ya shopping cart mate

Lol. Read pig as "beast" and yes. Need dif. Like a cusco semi locked number?I get the impression fully locked will drive me bananas.

lHaha i have a 2way id say 1.5 would be better for the street or an R34 diff if $$$ are tight :P

I run a Tomei 2-Way in the 34.. they are really not as bad as you would think, unless your cornering at a decent speed and have to launch the brakes you wont slide around

Yeah? Hmm. I would have though avoid 2way? From the info I'm gathering 1.5 may be the go. What's main dif (pun intended)between 1.5 and 2 way as far as day to day drive ability. What am I gonna feel when doing things like round normal corners or a maccas drive through?

    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
    • Sorry for reviving an old post, but I'm having the same hot idle tick issue. Did anyone ever find out what it was?  I have checked/ replaced Injectors Coils checked Lifter clerance (is at zero) Checked Cam lobes Replaced exhaust gasket and studs Would appreciate any advice this is driving me nuts
    • There's a huge reason manufacturers are tuning in dead flat torque curves... Make them reliable (and more drive able)
    • What HVAC actuator is under the steering wheel? Do you mean on the RHS of the centre console, immediately to the left of your shin? If so, then yes, it is probably that one, because that is the mode door actuator, and from what I know, it's still a pain in the arse to replace. I don't know about whole dash out, but you certainly have to rip into the centre console section. I don't know if it's covered in the workshop manual, as I haven't spent much time looking at those parts of it. (and by "the workshop manual, I mean the R32 GTR one, which is the most comprehensive one we have, and it should be similar enough between that and later cars to serve as a guide).
