i have a mate with a boat and he wants to buy a xr6 turbo.

he has been told that turbos are no good for towing because of stress to the turbo

do you think this is true

Dads turbo diesel landcruiser has been towing 1600kg boat for years, nothin wrong with it and it loves it, hes running big front mount, 3 inch turbo back exhaust and 13psi boost. If ya ever see a red landcruiser with an autometer boost gauge on the a pillar thats my old mans.

Turboed vehicles are usually the best towers as well as they make decent torque for pulling. Remember that it will be the an auto box that will fry first before a turbo. Manuals rock.

Oh apparently xr6 manual boxes are as weak as water to.

How hard do ya think truck turbos work when there workin to pull 40 to 60 odd ton up the Adelaide hills freeway.

yeh thats pretty much what i told him i just thhaught i would ask for a second opinion

i think the sales man was just trying to get a few extra bucks out of him by trying to sell him the xr8

im sure the xr8 would have more torque hence being better to tow a boat

but the xr6 could still do it im sure

Turbo diesel's are a different kettle of fish,deisel is the way if towing alot.
