G'day,

now ive just been looking into importing a r32 gtr into victoria, but some of the price's of the r32's i am finding on import monster are just rediculous, 2,380,000YEN which is like $25k for a r32 gtr to buy from japan.. that was the maximum price, others got down to 800,000YEN.

Can anyone who has imported a r32 GTR into australia give me a rough price on what it cost in total after compliance and registering the car.

Im interested in importing a GTR aslong as it works out cheap enough.. can find a registered GTR in vic for $15k these days so i cant really imagine how much cheaper it'd be to import one..

anyone who has imported one that can give me a figure of what the whole process cost would be appreciated

cheers

The value of the car at auction/private treaty will depend on its condition and model.

A V-Spec II will cost quite a deal.

An N1 will cost a whole lot more than 3M Yen.

You're also putting your trust in your reputable importer having reliable guys on the ground to do all the checks and balances and then tick the boxes.

Because there are set fees on freight, insurance, tax, compliance, registration etc, the more valuable the car is, the more worthwhile it is to import. And of course the corollary is; the less valuable the car is in Oz, the more worthwhile it is to buy it locally.

PM me if you need to ascertain costs.

Cheers

For a clean late model 32R landed in Melbourne including all costs like compliance, gst, stamp duty, freight etc etc expect to be paying between 20 and 25k

I wouldn't bother looking at the local examples that are 15k and below. Went through it all 3 years ago and importing was the only way to get what I wanted.

Hey mate. As above, importing is the only way you get what you want. Sure you take the chance of buying a lemon but if you're dealing with a reputable importer then you place all your trust in their hands to check and make sure it's up to scratch.

If you're after a newer GTR then yeah you're paying more cause the K's are lower and well, its newer.

I imported my '89 32 GTR about 6-7 years ago under the 'grey imports' rule or whatever it is (I think it's changed name and laws/rules since then.) I payed about $12.5k for my car. Stock as a rock. Importing fees was about another $4k. Then it had to be complied and brought to ADR, I was lucky to find someone that would be able to do it for me for just under $1k. Then it had to be registered, again another few hundred dollars. You can write down dodgy car value numbers to make the registration a bit cheaper.

A clean R32 GTR will take a while to find and expect to pay mid-high teens for a Vspec.

I just bought a 1994 VspecII in Black which took about six months to find. You really need to chose an importing company who has guys in Japan that can actually inspect the car for you. I wouldn't rely on the auction reports.
